Today I had the honor of race-walking at New Balance National Championships in Boston, Massachusetts and placed 9th out of 19 people. I joined track back in freshman year during spring time as a sprinter not knowing what to do with my life or why i decided to join track and I was in a very bad mental space. Then I met some of my very best friends doing race-walking back in the spring of last year and decided to join them thinking it was easy since it was just walking. Let me tell you it’s not easy (coming from a former varsity sprinter too so) I wouldn’t be here without all the support from my very best friends (Kaylee and Bridget ofc), my teachers,my parents and of course my coaches. I don’t care if I get shamed on for race- walking anymore because it has become such a big part of my life and I don’t plan on ever giving this part of me up because it has helped me through many challenges in my life and has opened up so many doors for me in which i will not shut. I love what I do and that’s all that matters to me and couldn’t have been happier with where i ended up in my life. 💕🎀💗🌸
