Our series continues with Ted and Hollie Smith!

Our story began in the Fall of 2003, when a friend of mine (Brian Lowrance ‘01), who was the husband of one of Hollie’s co-workers, said, “man, there is this girl you need to meet, I don’t know what it is, but I can just see you two together”. Following a little vetting by one of her friends (Lori Murphree ‘00) at a neutral location (Jitterbugs), a first date was planned at a Roger Craeger concert at Sneakers.

To say the least, we hit it off right away and began dating. Hollie had already finished two degrees, while I was in my 5th year of my first. With a little motivation from Hollie, by stuffing a pic of an engagement ring in a hunting magazine, we were married in the Fall of ‘05. SFA was and is a huge part of our lives. We both arrived in ‘98 w/ every plan to get our degrees, then go back to Dallas and Houston, respectively. But fate had another plan, the love we found for each other quickly spilled over into this town, the community and our Alma Mater, so we stayed in Nacogdoches and began our journey together.

Two kids later and always loyal to the Lumberjacks, we have remained heavily involved in both this community and SFA. Hollie as a 23 year employee of SFA, me as an alumni association board member and us as owners of two businesses in Nacogdoches, as well as Lumberjack Athletic Boosters.

SFA and Nacogdoches are home! Axe ‘Em!

Homecoming events kick off next week!

Make plans to attend our "Flap" Jack Breakfast at The Fredonia Hotel on Oct. 24! It's always a good time for fellowship with fellow Jacks and an awesome way to kick off the day's festivities.

“Our story starts in 2023, we met through mutual friends on campus. Little did we know we lived one floor above each other in Lumberjack Lodge! Through our time spent together on campus from Alpha Chi Formals, Banita nights and the stay home and watch a movie nights, we found our way to graduation.

Soon after we made our way back to campus where we got engaged in the beautiful SFA Gardens! Currently, we are engaged with a beautiful puppy (Winnie) and living in Fort Worth. We are currently working in banking as a relationship banker - Tristin ‘25 and Student Behavior Analyst - Emily ‘25”

Thanks for sending and great pics!

What does an SFA Alumni Ambassador actually do? 💜🪓

The Lumberjack Impact Network gives alumni five ways to put their experience, connections, and pride into action.

Think about the people you know and the experience you could share. A conversation, an introduction, or an invitation can be the start of something meaningful.

Which of these five roles sounds most like you? Tell us in the comments—or tag a Jack whose strengths belong here.

Learn more and apply at www.jackshq.com. Applications are always open.

We Grow Lumberjack Pride!
