From SFA’s Field Station to obtaining her Master's at Virginia Commonwealth, Lumberjacks are doing big things!

Join us in congratulating SFA alumna Heather Barrar, who has been appointed by Governor Abigail Spanberger as Virginia’s first-ever dedicated Director of Outdoor Recreation!

Heather earned her bachelor’s degree in Forestry and Recreation Management at SFA and attended Field Station in summer 1996. In her new role, she will help connect conservation, tourism and economic development to strengthen Virginia’s outdoor recreation opportunities.

Heather reached out and shared with us, “Thank you SFA for giving me the foundation for this amazing opportunity!”

Congratulations, Heather! Your Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture family is proud of you and we look forward to watching all that you will continue to accomplish!

ATCOFA IS STILL #1, AND WE’RE ON OUR WAY TO 100!

10 days to go. 60 donors. #1 on the leaderboard.

Our ATCOFA community is showing up! Since yesterday, we’ve added 11 new donors and extended our lead over second place. But we’re not stopping here.

To qualify for incentive winnings, each college, must secure a minimum of 100 unique donors. That means we need just 40 more ATCOFA supporters to reach the mark!

And remember, it’s not about how much you give, it’s about getting more Lumberjacks involved. A $5 gift counts as one unique donor, so every person who participates makes a difference. Help us find 40 more!

Tag an ATCOFA alum, family, or friend. Send it to a fellow Lumberjack. Ask someone who hasn't participated yet to join you in supporting ATCOFA.

We’re currently #1, let's reach 100 donors before the end of the week so we can DEFEND THE TITLE of Giving Day champions for a second year in a row!

ATCOFA IS CURRENTLY #1

Dr. Unger snapped this drone shot on Friday of the building progress. While the building continues to come together, we are working towards even more for our students! With 9 days and 11 hours remaining in the SFA Giving Day competition, your participation supports the students and programs that shape the programs in our college.

Last year, our ATCOFA community came together and made history. Let’s defend the title and show, once again, what our Lumberjacks can accomplish together!

Current Leaderboard: https://givingday.sfasu.edu/pages/leaderboards

#1 Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture
49 donors, $4,320 raised

#2 Nelson Rusche College of Business
40 donors, $2,765 raised

#3 James I. Perkins College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences
36 donors, $885 raised

ATCOFA may be in the lead, but only nine donors separate us from second place. Not enough to get cozy just yet! Reminder, competition is based on the number of unique donors, not the total amount of money raised. $5 is all it takes to keep us in the lead! That means a $5 gift counts just as much toward our leaderboard standing large gift. Each new person who gives moves ATCOFA one step closer to defending our title!
