Celebrating OUR outstanding students, Danielle and Tina, on their accomplishments at the Rutger's NODA internship and the NASPA Conference !

About Danielle's experience:
Iโ€™ll be working as a Graduate Intern at Rutgers University where Iโ€™m treated as a professional staff member, supporting large-scale orientation programs at a big university. Iโ€™ll help train and supervise orientation leaders, including overseeing a team and supporting their development throughout the summer. Iโ€™ll also be facilitating presentations and sharing important information and resources with new students. A big part of my role is helping coordinate logistics and making sure each orientation session runs smoothly behind the scenes. Overall, itโ€™s a super hands-on experience thatโ€™s building my skills in leadership, public speaking, and student support.

About Tina's experience:
I was energized and excited to attend the 2026 NASPA Conference in Kansas City. The event offered an enriching opportunity for professional growth, dynamic discussions, and meaningful networking with dedicated Student Affairs colleagues from across the nation. I toured exemplary campuses, exchanged effective strategies, and engaged with peers who are passionate about promoting student achievement. I am thankful for the actionable insights gained and the connections forged within this inspiring community. #NASPA2026 #StudentAffairs #StudentSuccess by @sfaedstudies

We are so proud to spotlight one of our own who has recently become an officer for the Taking Hands Club here at SFA!

To her, being a Lumberjack means being a leader and a role modelโ€”someone who always strives to do the right thing and give their best in all they do. Her dedication to getting involved on campus, supporting events, and helping others find their way truly reflects the heart of what it means to be part of the SFA community.

Weโ€™re proud to have such a passionate and driven student representing Education Studies. Keep shining and leading the way!

The Texas Chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education (TXNAME) came together for an inspiring experience at Prairie View A&M University, bringing students and educators into a space of collaboration, learning, and growth.

A huge thank you to our Stephen F. Austin State University professors, Dr. Sarah Straub and Dr. Kevin Jones, who spearheaded this opportunity and made it all possible.

We had the privilege of hearing from guest speakers and SFA student presenters who shared meaningful perspectives and experiences. More importantly, we had the chance to learn from one another through collaboration and open dialogue.

This experience reminded us of the power of multicultural education in creating inclusive, equitable spaces where every voice is valued. by @sfaedstudies

Please join us for Natalie Thornton, executive director of
CASA of the Pines and former public high school teacher, champions trauma-informed education. She applies Trust-Based Relational Intervention, or TBRI, principles to classrooms and advocacy work, presenting nationally on empowering children while serving on Court Appointed Special Advocates for children boards and community child welfare initiatives.

She will share her own personal experiences as a public educator and as a non-profit director for an organization that provides advocacy for children who suffer from trauma. She will also discuss the biological impacts that trauma has on the brain and how that affects children in the classrooms. But most importantly, how the TBRI principals, originally created for families, can also be applied successfully in the classroom.

Location: ECRC, RM 212
Time: 5:30PM
