We’re reimagining what school dropoff and pick-up can look like. ✨

Last week’s School Street activation at E.R. Taylor was a joyful, bike-and-bubble-filled success! We closed the street to cars for two hours and opened it up to over two hundred kids. They got to practice their bike skills, explore the @sfmta_muni bus, and pedal some delicious smoothies, plus facepainting, hula hooping, and community building.

SFBike, with support from SFMTA and Civic Joy Fund, is partnering with San Francisco schools to pilot at least six School Street activations this year! School Streets demonstrate to school communities and neighborhood families a different approach to school arrival and dropoff, with bolstered attendance, increased opportunities for physical activity for students, all while lowering fossil fuel emissions in the area directly around the school.

We need your help to save Bay Area Transit this fall. Without funding, we can expect to see transit service slashed across the board. Stronger Muni for All (@strongermuni) and Connect Bay Area (@connectbayareatransit) are two tax measures that would avert these worst-case scenarios. Here are THREE ways you can help:

On October 8, we’re excited to participate in @dafdayofficial, a national day dedicated to mobilizing the more than $326 billion in charitable dollars held in donor-advised funds (DAFs) across the country to support our vital nonprofit sector.

SFBike relies on donations to produce car-free School Streets, support Bike It Forward’s hundreds of refurbished bike distributions to kids in foster care and affordable housing residents, and pressure city officials to make our streets safer for all who bike and roll.

Biking between San Francisco, Sausalito, and beyond just got easier, safer, and more stunning! With this week’s official opening of the Vista Point Trail, we’ve traded the most dangerous mile in Marin for one of the most beautiful miles in the world. We were thrilled to ride the trail ourselves Wednesday, with dozens of SFBike and MCBC members!

After years of advocacy and engagement on both sides of the bridge, Vista Point Trail will now more safely connect San Francisco and Marin, and provide a better experience for people commuting or traveling between our two counties.

Thank you to members of @sfbike and @marinbike for your years of support and advocacy as we worked with @nps, @goldengatebridgedistrict and @ggnra to reflect your experiences and collaboratively work towards a better connection for everyone biking, rolling, and walking!

This week, our dedicated Community Repair Night volunteers put the final touches on a very special bike, heading to one of @sanfranciscocasa's foster kids who has been waiting for their new wheels with anticipation! Can you tell we were excited, too? 🤩

Every year, our Bike It Forward program team does multiple distributions with SFCASA to give bikes to kids in their foster network. These bikes are donated and reclaimed, and our dedicated Tuesday night volunteers refurbish them under the supervision of our Bike It Forward program manager, Qamuuqin (on the right!). We've seen firsthand how getting bikes to kids in foster care can build their confidence and joy in an uncertain time of their lives, and we're honored to be an SFCASA partner. 🧡

The Prop G campaign is using safe streets imagery to mislead voters. Sunset streets are safer now than before the park opened.

Destroying park amenities to allow for speeding traffic won’t make neighborhood streets any safer, but will create a new dangerous highway separating the beach from the neighborhood.
