🔗 Donation Log/ Sign up found in our bio! AWPL x UH Honors College Service Opportunity:
Transitional Family Housing Shelter - Friendship Basket Drive🤍 We’re excited to announce a service initiative in partnership between AWPL and the UH Honors College. We are supporting a transitional family housing shelter in Houston that serves immigrant women, mothers, and children by providing a safe space and essential resources as families rebuild their lives in the U.S. The Honors College is providing 30 containers, and we need YOUR help to fill them. Each container will become a “Friendship Basket” filled with essential items (hygiene products, snacks, books, and more) to directly support families in need. During the event, participants will also make friendship bracelets and necklaces, write personalized notes for families, and help assemble the baskets! In alignment with AWPL’s mission of advancing educational opportunities for women and expanding access for all, this initiative will also include a special “Bilingual Library” component to further support the families we serve. 📚 Bilingual Library:
In addition to care items, each basket will include educational resources to support reintegration. For many families, access to books is essential for:
• Learning English and navigating a new system
• Supporting children’s academic growth
• Empowering mothers toward independence
• Building confidence in a new environment Book donations can include:
• Books for all ages (K–12)
• Bilingual or non-English books/ work books 🤝 We also want to thank @thehulr @uhblackprelawcollective @businesslawsociety.uh @uhpsua @uhalhaa @sfr.uh for their collaboration and support!
