As a festival at the heart of Salford, we couldn't be more thrilled to champion local sounds and new music with @sftoc taking over the main stage on Sunday.

We loved every bit of the incredible live music programme that had everyone dancing all over the Piazza, hosted by @andreaac and @j3nnag featuring @madameclaude.official, @swanevieira brought to We Invented the Weekend by @salfordtwinning partner festival @lacooperativedemai from Clermont-Ferrand, @evabee.mcr and headliner @afriquoi.

This month we once again collaborated with @sftoc, adding not one but two spectacular new artworks to the 2026 festival line-up!

We presented 'Our Ears Sometimes Sing to Us' by @loladelamata and 'From the Edges: Salford's Hidden Landscapes' by @simonconnor_sounds and @andrewpbrooks.

Two weeks since @sftoc and we've just about recovered enough to post this reel. We honestly had the best time, thanks so much to everyone that faced the porta queue and boogied with us! What a wonderfully warm, silly and fun bunch.

And a huge thank you to sounds for putting on such a wicked party, and for trusting us with a stage. Plus of course a final thank you to the wonderful DJs that kept the space packed and moving all night, big shouts to
@nora________uk , @sherubic , @no_plan_t , @steeltraxx , @naybinevitable , @elody.mcr and @kmarleydj , the amazing @_mamba.exe_ on the mic, and special kudos to all who endured the steam team b2b2b chaos in the final hour.

Omg stop flirting with us!!!! And we’ll stop using humour as a mechanism to hide behind when we’re feeling emotional!!!

But seriously – here are just a few lovely, lovely things that have been said about Sounds over the last couple of weeks 🗞️

We are so proud of this thing we've created over the past 21 years. Parts have changed and grown as we've gone on... but our love of place, community and grassroots music & arts remains undiluted.

Thank you for the words @mcrfinest @martinghewitt @clashmagazine @steve_cooke, perhaps our favourite from @goodfuturemusic, and @breigecobanephotography once again for the photos.
