🧬 Peptides, explained simply.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids—the building blocks of proteins. In laboratory settings, researchers use synthesized peptides to study molecular interactions, stability, binding, and biological signaling.

For research, quality matters. Verified purity, batch-specific testing, and proper handling help ensure reliable and repeatable results.

“99% pure” sounds simple—but what does it actually mean? 🧪

In peptide research, purity is typically measured using HPLC. A 99% result means roughly 99% of the integrated chromatographic signal corresponds to the main peak under that specific test method.

And that other ~1%? It can include closely related synthesis byproducts such as truncated or deletion sequences. Importantly, purity isn’t the same as net peptide content—water, counter-ions, and salts may contribute to total mass without being represented in the HPLC purity percentage.

Understanding the number is more important than just seeing “99%.”

A COA is more than just a purity number. 🧪📄

A Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents laboratory testing performed on a specific batch of research material. When reading one, start by making sure the lot/batch information matches the material being tested.

Then look at the key sections: mass spectrometry helps confirm molecular identity, while HPLC reports purity. Also check the material’s appearance, testing method, test date, and analyst/laboratory information. These details help establish traceability and give context to the reported results.
