Final year of my 30s.

It’s been one hell of a journey so far. The highs gave me confidence, experience, and memories I’ll carry forever. The lows forced me to evolve into someone stronger than I ever expected. One thing I’ve learned is that the more I let go of trying to control the outcome, the more everything seems to fall into place. Along the way I’ve let go of toxic people, business partners, and friendships that no longer aligned with where I’m headed, and that’s okay. In return, I’ve met incredible people who share my passion for fitness, adventure, purpose, and building things because we genuinely love the process, not just the paycheck.

I’m incredibly grateful to be alive, healthy, and surrounded by people who believe in the mission. I’m especially thankful for Maria, who has stood beside me through every high and every low, and for Nalu, who’s been my little adventure buddy and constant reminder to enjoy the simple moments in life.

Year 39 already feels like it’s going to be the biggest one yet. To everyone who’s been in my corner, thank you for believing in me, supporting the vision, and being a real one. Let’s see what this next chapter has in store. by @sgthall

P A R A L L E L

Costa Mesa showed up in a major way.

This past Saturday more than 100 people went into battle for 90 minutes at HYROX Performance Center OC, all for something bigger than a workout.
We shared the Parallel x Onward Ops mission and walked away with 20 new mentors committed to helping active duty service members transition into civilian life, with more still stepping forward.

When the work got heavy, @electrotecaudio gave us the sound to keep pushing. When someone wanted to quit, their battle buddy and the energy of the entire room carried them forward.

We danced. We sweat. We made a difference.
Massive gratitude to the entire Shamba and HPC OC crew for opening their home and helping coordinate an incredible day. Special shoutout to @theshambashawman for standing shoulder to shoulder with @sgthall and coaching with integrity and purpose.

To every athlete, mentor, coach, volunteer, and vendor who made Saturday possible, thank you. Parallel and Onward Ops are changing what impact can look and feel like.

YOU are the reason this mission keeps moving.

Today, 100 souls came together at HYROX Performance Center OC for our Parallel x Onward Ops takeover.

I’m incredibly grateful and humbled by the energy, the willingness to connect, and the trust everyone brought to the workout, the music, and the mission.

I’m always so ocd on the details as we build out these events/workouts. Making sure every movement flows, everyone feels safe, the sound hits right, and every person walks away feeling like they were part of something bigger than just another workout.
Today felt exactly like that.

A huge thank you to @electrotecaudio for creating an incredible sound experience that let the music become part of the coaching, and to @hpc_oc @iamshamba @theshambashawman for hosting & helping lead an unforgettable class for impact.

To the Parallel community.
Parallel is growing because of people like you. People who believe that wellness can build stronger communities and who see the proactive way we’re helping connect transitioning servicemen and women with mentors through Onward Ops.

Some of the best people I’ve ever met have come through fitness. Which means amazing mentors for the mission.

That’s why it’s such an easy decision to keep pushing forward through workouts, retreats, festivals, and collaborations with incredible communities like HPC.

An old one. But good one.
.
With everything that happens externally in our lives, it’s not in the incidents themselves, but how we respond. Are we inspired and motivated. Do we sink and sulk and hope someone will save us? I’m a huge advocate of feeling your feelings. However, you must use the hurt, the disadvantage, and the failures to be your catalyst for whatever drives you in life. The thing that makes your hair stand up and heart elevate a few beats with excitement. We all have varying issues in our lives, all of us. It’s what we do next that matters. That is what fitness & impact is for me. I have seen it come alive in thousands and thousands of clients when they find their right crew, trainer, and facility. It is truly special. Live in the now. Chase your next adventure and gas up your squad and strangers! We have just one chance at life my friends.

Coming back to my hometown is always bittersweet.

This trip carried more weight than most. In the span of two months, we said goodbye to my stepmother Marsha, and then to our amazing Aunt Linda. I flew back from California quickly, crossing paths with Maria for only 45 minutes as she came home from Utah and I headed out to Connecticut. We swapped the car, shared a quick goodbye, and went our separate ways.

I came home to honor Aunt Linda. I had the privilege of leading her celebration of life, and what stayed with me most was hearing her coworkers and friends speak about the woman they knew. Different chapters. Different rooms. The same Linda. Kind, hilarious, steady, loved, and deeply woven into the lives around her.
New England has a way of making memory feel physical. The roads, the shoreline, the morning light, the old neighborhoods.
I’ve now spent more of my life away from here than I ever did growing up here, so every return feels like seeing it through two sets of eyes. The kid who knew these places by heart, and the man who had to leave to understand them.
We brought flowers from the celebration to my brother Kenny’s grave. I helped my dad around the house. I met young gym owners in town building something fresh and needed. I got a few strong workouts in, hit the beach after training with an old friend, and took early morning drives through some of the most beautiful corners of the place that raised me.
It has been a rough couple of months for our family. But grief has a way of sharpening what matters.
Now the focus is to keep living well. To honor the people we’ve lost through health, purpose, movement, travel, love, and connection.
To come home when it matters.
To leave with gratitude.
To get back to Maria and Nalu.
To keep building Parallel with everything I have.

It has felt damn good leading this movement with Parallel.

What we are building is so much more than workouts.
We are bringing strong communities together for a bigger mission: helping service members move from active duty into civilian life with real support, real connection, and real humans beside them.
I could not have asked for a better partner than General Eastman and the entire Onward Ops organization, along with our Parallel team.

I get to do what I love while helping bring quality volunteers into the lives of men and women taking on one of the biggest transitions they will ever face.

And the best part is this:
Once friends, clients, and community members step into the mission, they realize anyone can do this.

Show up. Listen. Guide. Support. Be a friend.

It changes lives.

Thank you to everyone who has come out, supported, shared, volunteered, and believed in this from near and far.

I am fired up to be back on the mic in Orange County, where I spent most of my training career leading and coaching hundreds of thousands of humans.

Cannot wait to see you out there.

Orange County. It feels so good to be back.

As we continue growing the mission of Parallel from our past few events, we have been searching for amazing fitness communities to host our wellness impact activations.

When several past clients and close friends told us to reach out to Jake Shaw at Hyrox Performance Center OC, it was music to our ears.

They told us the community was epic. The workouts were unbelievable. And most importantly, the people truly show up. Not just for themselves, but for each other.

Our founder, @sgthall , went over to meet Jake, instantly connected with him, and recently jumped into a Hyrox Shred class. Right away, we knew this was the exact kind of community Parallel is built to stand beside.

On July 11, Parallel x Hyrox Performance Center OC is bringing together music, movement, mission, and purpose.

This is a perfect community for our mission. We are here to get quality humans involved in helping active duty men and women transition from military service into civilian life with support, mentorship, and real community.

After the workout, we will introduce you to our Training and Development Manager Dilia from Onward Ops. She served on active duty, used the Onward Ops program during her own transition, and now works to bring amazing people like you into the mission.

We are also bringing in a custom sound system specific to our workout setup from our national sponsor, Electrotec, so you will feel every bass drop while you and your team fight through the work together.

This is going to be one hell of a morning. The music, the energy, the mission, and the people are going to make this day something truly epic.

Pacific Beach showed up.

This past weekend, Parallel x Fitness Quest 10 brought San Diego together for a morning that was way bigger than a workout.

We packed the house with incredible humans, local vendors, DJs, recovery, ice baths, and a whole lot of sweat. But before the music hit and the room got loud, we took a moment to connect on why we are really here.

Our mission with Onward Ops is to help active duty service members as they transition from military life into the civilian world. That transition can be one of the most important and challenging chapters of their lives, and our community has the ability to step in, show up, and make a real impact.

Then we got to work.

Ninety minutes of movement, music, grit, smiles, questionable life choices on the workout floor, and a sound system powered by our national sponsor Electrotec that made the whole room feel alive.

After the workout, we kept the energy rolling with our post workout party, local vendors, recovery stations, ice baths, DJ sets, and the kind of conversations that remind us why this mission matters.

To everyone who came out, trained hard, supported the mission, brought the energy, or helped make the day happen, thank you.

Parallel is growing. The mission is building. The support is real.

And we are just getting started.

Today we completed our second epic wellness party with Parallel, and I’m still fired up from what I witnessed in that room.

This was never just about a workout. It was about bringing good people, good music, and real purpose into the same space to support the Onward Ops ETS program and help build more sponsors for service members transitioning out of the military.

I had meaningful conversations today with civilians, veterans, and active duty service members. People showed up, asked questions, shook hands, trained hard, supported each other, and leaned into something bigger than themselves. That is exactly why Parallel exists.

Huge thank you to @bristolfit and the entire crew at @fitnessquest10pb for opening your doors and helping us bring this mission to Pacific Beach.

Big love to @electrotecaudio for bringing the absolute monster sound system and powering the room the way only they can.

And to the @neveraboveyou team, I cannot thank you enough. You jumped into action and helped us turn over the entire room, set up sound, build the workout boards, and get the mission moving in 14 minutes. That is what it takes sometimes to complete the mission. Thank you.
Thankful for my beautiful wife @_mariaehall for believing in me always and being by my side. ❤️

It is amazing what happens when people are properly motivated. A workout becomes something more. You see grit. You see people pushing through hard things. You see partners lifting each other up. You see community being built in real time.

There is no better reward for me than watching humans rise to the occasion.

To every vendor who showed up today, thank you. I made it a point to come by, shake your hand, and tell you how much I appreciated you being there. You helped make this event feel alive.

Our first Parallel wellness activation in Utah at @mvmnt_fitness_group felt like the beginning of something much bigger.

A massive room of humans came together for one mission. To move with purpose, build real community, and learn how we can support transitioning veterans through the ecosystem of @onwardops

The goal was never just to host a workout. The goal was to bring high functioning, mission driven people into the room, show them the impact they can have, and connect them with veterans who are 6 to 12 months out from separation of service.

By the end of the morning, we identified around 10 solid humans who are ready to step up, receive training, and become sponsors for transitioning veterans through our partners at Onward Ops. That is the win. That is why we are building this.

The Parallel team rallied hard and made the morning special. We packed out a massive 90 minute workout, had amazing food, music, vendors, recovery, and the exact kind of energy that reminds you what happens when people show up for something bigger than themselves.
