Author’s Diary #4 — A little more about me. 🍀

I know every author’s journey is different.

So, mine is too.

I’m S.G. Verin.

I haven’t revealed my face.
I haven’t revealed my gender.
And maybe I’m not ready to reveal everything just yet.
But today, I thought I’d introduce myself… a little. 🤍
Since I was around 9 years old, I’ve loved books. Reading became one of my favourite things to do. I was curious about everything~and honestly, I’m still that curious child. 🤣

I started with old comics, and then came my very first book by Ruskin Bond.
After that, the books just kept coming. 📖

When I was around 13, I started keeping a journal. I loved writing about my days, creating little stories, writing lyrics for them, and scribbling down short poems.

And somehow, I still have those journals.
Almost seven journals filled with pieces of my younger self ~stories, thoughts, feelings, dreams, and little things I never wanted to forget.
And yes… I still journal.
I still love it.

Outside of my books and stories, I’m actually a very introverted person. I love nature 🤍 especially beaches, sunsets, the night sky filled with stars, and that beautiful moon. 🌙
Somehow, those little things heal something inside me.

There’s also a part of my journey I don’t talk about much.
I had to find a lot of courage to walk this path on my own.

To write.

To publish.

To put my stories into the world.

To call myself an author.

And honestly, that courage didn’t come easily.
But here I am. 🍀

I’m deeply grateful for my first book, for every story that inspired me, and for every book that somehow found its way into my life and helped shape the person behind S.G. Verin.

One of those books that stayed with me was The Mountain Is You. 🤍
And there have been so many others that brought me this far.
So… this is a little piece of me....🍀

Still reading.

Still journaling.

Still creating stories.

Still learning.

Still that curious child.

And still becoming. 🤍

Thankful for everything. 🍀

Why did this become my debut?

I have so many stories waiting to be told. Stories that have lived in my mind for years, waiting for their turn.

But when I had to choose the one that would become my first, I kept coming back to this one.
Because beneath something that may seem ordinary, there is something unexpected.

A story about the heart.

About self-discovery.

About discovering something within yourself that was there all along.

And perhaps that's what stayed with me the most
🍀~sometimes, your soul knows long before you do.

I don't think I chose this story randomly.
Maybe, in some quiet way, it chose me first.

This is the story that came first.🤍

The beginning of my journey as an author.

Author’s Diary #3: What it felt like writing my second book.

Writing my second book was nothing like I expected.
I thought having written one book already would make the next one easier.

It didn't. 🖤

PAST PRESENT FUTURE ALL IS YOU became a part of my late nights, my dreams, my journals, and those long conversations I had with myself.

There were moments when scenes would come to me in dreams.
There were moments when I knew exactly what I wanted to write...
and then there were moments when I couldn't write a single proper sentence.

I felt stuck.

Frustrated.

Sometimes even a little lost.

There were days when I couldn't figure out where my own story was going. So I started putting my thoughts on paper.

I wrote in my journals.

I reread my chapters.

I changed things.

Then changed them again. And sometimes, I just took a long shower and thought about my characters. 😂
Somehow, those little things helped me find my way back to the story.
There were so many times when I felt like I wasn't making progress.

But I kept writing.

Even when I couldn't process everything.

Even when the words felt messy.

Even when I wasn't sure if I was doing it right.

Because I slowly realised something:
You don't always have to know how to finish the story.
Sometimes, you just have to keep writing it.
And eventually...

I reached the last page.

My second book was complete.

Not because the journey was easy.

But because I didn't stop. 🖤📖

Author’s Diary #2: What happened after I finished writing my first book.

Finishing a book sounds like the end of a journey.

For me, it was only the beginning.
🍀
There was something strangely emotional about typing those final words. I had spent so much time with the characters, their thoughts, their choices, and their little world that letting go of them felt almost impossible.

And then came the part where nobody really sees ~ editing, rewriting, questioning every sentence, and wondering if the story was actually good enough to be shared.

Publishing my first book taught me that writing isn't just about creating a story. It's also about having the courage to let someone else read it.

And somehow, I did.

One book became two. And I'm still learning what it means to call myself an author. 🖤📖
