He who jumps into the void owes no explanation to those who stand and watch at the top.

It is said that Miyamoto Musashi used to sit in a dark room for 3 days before facing his opponent.

He would sharpen his sword so that nobody caught up on his sharpening, and he would reflect back on his opponent and how he would finish them.

Stephen Covey, author of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People would also call this habit "Sharpening the Saw", the 7th and most important habit of all.

It is time clean your rusty tools, sharpen your mind sharpen your awareness.

What about "so and so" you may ask... "Who became rich in such despicable manner?",
...

Well, "such and such" a person, who gives order to a great many people; is at the mercy of great many more!

- Supposing they say they are happy?
Will their own opinion to this effect make them happy?

It does not make a difference what a man says.

What matters is how he feels - and NOT how he feels in one particular day!

But how he feels all the time!

But you have no need to fear that so a valuable thing may fall in unworthy hands.

Only the wise man is content with what is his!

All foolishness suffers the dissatisfaction with one self.

His writings angered 😡 Russian Czarist and the Soviets which caused further censorship, and many of his works were erased, some of his poems and arts still exists today:

"..
When I hear the call
Of the racing flood,
Loud with hated blood,
I will leave them all,
Fields and hills: and force my way 🏞️🌄
Right up to the Throne

Where God sits alone;
Clasp His feet and pray...
But till that day
What is God to me?
Bury me, be done with me,
Rise and break your chain.. ⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥⛓️‍💥
"
Orphaned at only age 11, his life was only the beginning of strife and struggles.

Russian officials had him arrested, exiled without trial and forced into military service 🪖. He was not released for 10 years! Czar Nicholas I prohibited him from further writing or painting.

He was arrested again only when he was freed to travel back to Ukraine on blasphemy charges and ordered to St. Petersburg (because he ignored their orders and kept painting and writing), where he died in 1861 at the young age of 47.

The founder of Ukrainian literature, Taras Shevchenko (Тарас Шевченко) he was an artist, a painter, a poet, and described being as:
"
a poet of the people ... He came out of the people, lived with the people, and not only by thought, but by the circumstances of life, was closely and bloodily connected with the people.
"
He influenced artistocrats and noblesmen in order to prevent bloodshed through his word (as per what sources describe him).

President Lyndon Johnson praised him, calling him a “crusader” for his freedom and rights of man, and beyond being a statesman "he was a citizen of the world".

An absolute legend, a role model.

"The time has come when a person is most afraid of a person, distrusts them, and avoids them." 🌄

She never asked for permission; she simply wrote and led.

Ran for her life for 59 years exiled, originally from Poland, exiled from Ukraine, then she went back to Poland, where she was displaced again and went to Germany where she's described as "pretending to be a mentally impaired beggar," crossed five borders on foot with a staff in her hand and a bag of manuscripts on her shoulders to reach freedom. then exiled again and went on to the United States.

Lost a father at a young age.
Lost a husband later in life, Antin Nyvynsky.

Her short story was censored, but not because it contained political sentiments. It was a short story about the worker's oppression.

Passed away in the United States after long years of struggle at the age of 90, and she was not able to finish her final work.
Fought to the end and never gave up. ✍️

1,111 people, including 289 Ukrainians. Amongst them, Marko Voronyi. 🌱
- Executed by the Russian terrorist regime cynically marked for the 20th anniversary of the October Revolution. One of his works:
"
She fell under an enemy hand.
Covered with snow-white locks...
I threaten the entire beast-like race!
Lord, give me strength to take revenge
For her soul – for the blue eyed one!
Lord God, can't pray —
Blood, her blood – furrow deep...
"
--
Beyond being a poet, he was also translator who translated many works from French, Italian, and Hebrew into Ukrainian.

Marko Voronyi (Марко Вороний) crime was not being in allegiance with the state; an autonomous creator who was clearly passionate about writing, and much of his works were rather targeted for kids. But after witnessing the great terror of the Russian communists, his poems shifted to reveal a rather dark theme reflected by his own words.

But just like a feather 🪽, he was gone. They took him.

They called him a terrorist in the time of Stalin’s terror. But he is braver than many people in modern age. 💐

He did not use his talent to honor the chiefs, to praise the tyrants, to love the new Soviet world and declare it in every word (a behavior some poets would do to gather money from the riches by praising tyrants and writing odes). 🫡

A role model, to say the least. He was a passionate writer, a poet, and a playwright.

"
Oh, my friend!
I lose my last strength,
Living in an imaginary country,
Where your image is lost, where your image is sweet,
Where your voice…
Be silent! Be silent! Be silent!
"
Yevhen Pluzhnyk (Євген Плужник), a Ukrainian who passed in 1936 at Solovky concentration camp in northwest Russia.

A stark to reminder of censorship during his era, and the self suppression for safety of family and friends.

---
Author of the blog, Myroslav Laiuk, cites:
"A mass grave site in northern Russia, a number of Ukrainian artists were executed: Mykola Kulish, a leading playwright of his time, the theater director Les Kurbas, the talented novelist Valerian Pidmohylnyi, and Mykola Zerov, a key intellectual. All of them were in their forties. Poet Yevhen Pluzhnyk was, instead, imprisoned in the regime’s brutal camps, where he would die within a year from tuberculosis"

They tried to erase him from history.

Although little is known about him in modern times, and some of his works were erased and he himself was suppressed, some of his works still remains available.

One of his works, named "Mother" (Мати):
— Unbutton your shirt, — calmly said to me the sergeant, looking around villainously in all directions and fitting with the words: — faster, faster!..
• On my chest, on a blue string, hung a small gilded cross — a gift from my mother when she once dressed me up for the army.

— Take off, — somehow quietly whispered he and when I handed over this loot he looked carefully at the sample and then waved something, — but it will come in handy — pulled out from behind the bosom of a big wallet and put my cross there...
• Oh, there were not only crosses in that wallet that had a value like mine!
I took the string and a note on the wet ground (he placed his possessions on the ground).

— Move! — said displeased sergeant, adding:
— For insulting the honor of the Polish army, I should have shot you like a dog, but now you have to drive ammunition to the Bolshevik positions, got it? Aren't you a Bolshevik?

Although the above translation may not be one to one accuracy, it is said that Gregory Kosynka has been passionate about writing novels. He was a Ukrainian writer and a translator for the Soviets. However, it is speculated that there is a certain stark reality behind some of these "novels". ✍️

Also known by his Ukrainian name, Григорій Косинка (Hryhorii kosynka).

He was executed by the Soviets. 💐🪽

Mykola Zerov,
a Ukrainian poet, translator, classical and literary scholar and critic. He is considered to be one of the leading figures of the Executed Renaissance.

One of his works:

"
Upon the blue hills… Wrapped in thought, sleeping,
Not for you, the younger, does the bright
Twilight of our crimson days burn.

"I belonged to nowhere, I was not obliged to anyone, I did not swear to anyone, and subsequently I could not betray anyone." ✍️

This was one of the letters he wrote to Yurii Sherekh-Shevelovh (Aka George Sheveloh). Who Were They to Each Other?
In short, they were literary allies turned bitter ideological rivals.

Writer, poet, novelist, dramatist, essayist, and author of many intellectual works, Mr. Yurii Kosach.

Harvard Research Institute cites: "
Despite his eminent literary works, Ukrainian émigré writer Yurii Kosach (1908-90) is neither as well known nor as well liked as his family members, literary figures Lesia Ukrainka and Olena Pchilka.
