Rancho La Vista, a historic ranch property in Ojai, California, now home to Jerry Bruckheimer & family. The main residence was originally designed in the Monterey style by architect James A. Knaefler in 1927, while additional core buildings evolved organically over time through the work of regional builders and craftsmen. Design studies by S|H Architects, led by @bradensterling reimagine a thoughtful remodel and addition that supports family and staff needs, improves internal flow, and maintains a seamless design aesthetic that honors the property’s early California ranching and agricultural heritage. by @sh_architects

We are deeply saddened to share that we have lost a legend, a mentor, a trailblazer and a friend, who set the standard for residential architecture: Robert A.M. Stern, To us, he was simply “Bob.”

Both of our principals, Braden Sterling and Hugh Huddleson, had the privilege of studying under Bob Stern. Early in his career, Hugh was mentored by Bob while designing homes in the Hamptons, during which they became fast friends. Braden later worked under Bob’s direction and the RAMSA team on the Reitman estate in Montecito. More recently, as the estate is being reimagined, Braden and Bob had the pleasure of reuniting and collaborating again.

Bob’s influence on our practice, and on the broader world of architecture, is profound and enduring. He taught us that rigorous design, deep respect for place, and timeless elegance are not just ideals, but responsibilities. His generosity, wit, and unwavering standards challenged us to be better architects and better collaborators.

We are deeply grateful for his guidance, friendship, and example. Bob will be greatly missed, but his legacy lives on in the homes he created, the students he inspired, and the countless lives and careers he helped shape. by @sh_architects

Sited on a coastal bluff just off 17-Mile Drive in Pebble Beach overlooking the Pacific, the contemporary design was created to highlight the variety of coastal bay and rocky shoreline views. Sensitively positioned within a biologically sensitive area, the footprint and related development have been kept minimal to reduce the project’s impact on the natural environment, resulting in an appropriate structure that harmonizes with its surroundings. by @sh_architects

A new project within Pebble Beach’s storied landscape, this regal contemporary residence unites modern refinement with the timeless beauty of natural materials. Conceived as both a private retreat and a dynamic gathering place, the home celebrates connection—between family, friends, and the surrounding environment. The grand living and dining hall flows effortlessly into spaces for entertainment, including a game room and dual music salons where the owner, a pianist, can perform either beneath the soaring volume of the great room or within the intimacy of a private music theater. A dedicated cinema and an interior koi pond—crafted as a luminous light trough channeling daylight into the kitchen and family spaces—underscore the home’s serene balance of art, architecture, and experience. by @sh_architects

New Project Spotlight: Spyglass Golf Course | Pebble Beach

Thoughtfully designed for versatility, it offers the ease of single-level living, while the lower level provides multiple guest suites and recreation spaces that open directly to the course and on-site amenities. A timeless family haven in an extraordinary location.

A few shots from a recent @luxe photoshoot taken just before the #PalisadesFire. Despite some smoke damage, we’re incredibly grateful the home was spared. Wishing the owners a smooth return so they can enjoy this special place again soon. by @sh_architects
