I’ve been listening to Nídia for over a decade, and she’s one of my favorite artists by far.
What gets me every time is how authentic she is, as a person and as an artist.
She started out on FruityLoops, blending kuduro with the sounds around her, and together with the other artists of Príncipe Discos she helped shape a sound that come from Lisbon.
Today that sound is recognized around the globe.

Last year I had the pleasure of working with her on a project in Lisbon.
These are some of the portraits from that day shot at the Italian embassy in Lisbon.

A huge thank you to Pietro and Filippo for asking me to jump on this crazy train ride of @feet.first.fair and to the whole team behind the scene and every collaborator who made this incredible weekend happen, full of people and good energy. We needed this!!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the hot, humid back room.
And thank you to those who bought a photograph and supported me on this long journey, 20 years of photography, and this was a big one, at least for me.

LIFE INSTANTS 0615 — 218 Polaroids, shot between 2006 and 2015 — was my first exhibition after several years of silent photography, and I’m delighted I got to share it with you.
Every single piece is an original, one and only copy.

If you didn’t make it, to the exhibition some Polaroids are still available for purchase. DM if interested to see the catalog.

Hopefully see you soon with a wider selection of Polaroid work.

LIFE INSTANTS 0615
A photographic showcase by Sha Ribeiro
Milan, September 12–13, 2026
Sha Ribeiro presents LIFE INSTANTS 0615, a showcase of 218 Polaroid photographs, in color and black and white, spanning nine
years of life and work, from 2006 to 2015.
The project will be presented during @feet.first.fair September 12–13, at Altrove, Via Corelli 27, Milan.
LIFE INSTANTS 0615 grows out of Ribeiro’s photographic path, moving between personal shots, editorial work, and commissions.
The images capture an early period of his professional practice, but also the travels, time spent abroad, people met along the
way, friends, artists, and figures from the grime and rap scenes, spanning local and international contexts.
More than documenting a period, the showcase captures a way of experiencing photography. Between 2006 and 2015, the
camera followed Ribeiro through everyday life, unselfconsciously and without interruption, an attitude that gradually faded as his
commercial workload grew. LIFE INSTANTS 0615 recovers that early rhythm and spontaneity: photography as a daily practice, fed
by everything that happened and everyone he crossed paths with.
Every image on display is a unique original, the only print made in that format. The Polaroid peel-apart film used at the time is no
longer manufactured, making each print physically as well as conceptually unrepeatable.
Each photograph is therefore also the material trace of a precise moment in Ribeiro’s practice: an image, but at the same time a
unique object, inseparable from its own history.
The 218 photographs are mounted directly on the wall, without frames or glass, in a dense grid that conveys their archival
nature. The images retain the same physical condition they’ve had for more than twenty years: kept in a drawer, never exhibited.
LIFE INSTANTS 0615 is their first public presentation.

That fascination for people slowly became instinct.
Before the overwhelming digital memory we live in today, my process was mostly instinctive driven by what I was visually and culturally attracted to.

I started photographing what naturally drew me in, using everything I was learning while assisting great fashion photographers on set.

That instinct led me toward subcultures, artists and scenes long before they became what people now call trends.

Portraiture became a way to translate identity, energy and presence through my own perspective. An approach rooted in experimentation, originality and the desire to create something recognisable and personal something deeply connected to who I am.

Over time, that same instinct brought me into experiences, worlds and encounters that continue to shape both my work and my life. by @sha___ribeiro

I’ve always been fascinated by people.
Portraiture became my way of getting closer, of observing, understanding, and translating that fascination into images. But for me, it was never enough to simply take a portrait. I’ve always felt the need to search for something different, a new angle, a personal language, a detail that could make the image feel unexpected and recognisable at the same time.

That need probably comes from where I started graffiti.
In that world, originality is everything. Finding your own style, your own mark, creating something that people can immediately trace back to you. Not following, but building a visual identity that feels honest and personal.

My approach to portraiture still comes from that same instinct: the desire to experiment, to push beyond the obvious, and to create images that carry a distinctive point of view, something that feels deeply connected to who I am.

Over time, this visual language naturally expanded into other worlds, music, fashion, art, different contexts where portraiture became more than just documenting a person, but a way to translate identity, energy and presence through my own perspective.
