Time is a Theif.

One day you’re mourning him growing out of newborn clothes whilst wishing for a full night’s sleep.

Then you walk him in to his kindergarten room and grateful for his new environment! But it’s too quiet at home.

Then you realize he’s 8.5! 😳 And may not reach for your hand anymore in a parking lot. Or give a hug or kiss in front of his peers at school. It hasn’t happened yet, but it may be soon. And that’s ok.

So when he wants a great snuggle, seldom requested anymore, he’ll get one. It will always be there for him.

My arms, my heart, my prayers. They will always be with you, Lucas. ❤️

Nesting. The house is too quiet! So we’re canning peach preserves, batching bulk lemonade, and making bone broth!

Meanwhile, our son is living his best life at camp and has some of the best expressions I’ve ever seen from today. God bless his blossoming personality. God bless the counselors, watching over him and his friends!

Lucas started piano lessons this morning! We dabbled a little in Nashville a few years ago, and it wasnt the right time yet. Now we have the opportunity to learn from the amazing Erin Hall-Kelley at Taylorsville Elementary once a week, amd Momma will do our best to reinforce parts of the lesson every evening.🤞🏻And then commence with guitar time and Bible reading with Daddy. It’s becoming such a nice rhythm for our evenings. ❤️

God is so good! (And so is music theory 🤓)

To the teacher who helped give Lucas the courage and safety to raise his hand; and then help him feel like a full contributing student of a classroom. You are precious. You are amazing. You will bring God‘s work wherever you go.

All of us will miss you from Taylorsville Elementary but we know how many young lives you will shape with your wonderful heart, wherever you go! We love you.

This boy, (whelp) young man!! Slayed his Math Map score: 14 points over his goal! 40 points growth for the year!!

Daddy and Mommy are overwhelmed with joy, but not surprised… He has been working his tush off, in every area of his life. 🥰

Just look at these muscles and his mean face. Absolutely, the “Heart of a Champion.” ❤️💪🏻

My mother taught me a wonderful lesson - which may seem odd as you read it at first: the only thing that’s different between a wedding and a funeral is a not alive body or combining two souls. All the heightened emotions are the same.

And then she said sometimes it’s better if you wait a beat to say what is most important to you to amy person in thar circumstance. A letter a month later. A check-in “How are you?” three months later; so that it is heard and felt. Not amongst the noise of the moment.

I kind of feel the same way about Mother’s Day in a way… Mothers are reflecting on everything you’ve done well and everything you sacrificed (or not), and also all the things you wish you had done better. No one is harder on herself than a Momma. And yesterday, I didn’t have these words because I was busy judging myself. And then I heard my Momma’s voice lifting me up. A day later.

So, here she is. Isn’t she gorgeous? She was and is the Mom and Dad in my family. She is both matriarch and patriarch. And though I don’t live near her anymore, I know her so well. She’s the one who told me to keep the little girl inside of you alive. She’s the one who told me to keep the butterflies in my heart flying. She’s the one who told me to never, ever, ever give up.

This is a boy who has worked so hard, and admits he is proud of himself. Needless to say, so are we!

Lucas blew away his score for reading MAP: the goal was to score 6 more for spring, and he achieved 15 points! 9 above his goal! A total of 27 points above his fall score over the year! This may seem like number salad to most, but for anyone who knows, this is a major deal.
