Meet Scott Boxx, Project Manager at Shack Built.

Scott grew up in the construction industry, helping his father, a roofing contractor, with projects from a young age. After years of working through winter chill and summer heat, he decided to take his construction experience indoors and focus on remodeling.

Today, Scott brings more than 20 years of remodeling and renovation experience to the Shack Built team, with a strong background in kitchen and bathroom remodels.

When he is not managing projects, Scott is usually cheering on his favorite sports teams and spending time with his wife and three adult children.

We are grateful to have Scott as part of the Shack Built team!

Every remodel comes with its own set of challenges, but the right team makes all the difference.

This client’s home addition began at the same time as COVID, bringing supply chain delays, subcontractor challenges, permitting issues, and constant changes along the way.

Through it all, the Shack Built team stayed focused on communication, problem-solving, and guiding the client through each phase of the process.

Even when the news was not ideal, our goal was to keep the client informed, help them make smart decisions, and continue moving the project forward with care and attention to detail.

Because at Shack Built, “good enough” is not good enough. We strive for excellence in every part of the process.

Thank you to our client for trusting us with your home addition. We are so glad you love your space!

At Shack Built, we go beyond the visuals of your project. We make sure it functions too.

That's where we go beyond other contractors with our building science.

Insulation & Air Sealing
We look beyond attics and walls to help reduce air leakage around foundations, tubs, fireplaces, garages, and other transition areas.

Indoor Air Quality
From ventilation to filtering and sealing against pollutants, we help create healthier spaces for the people living in them.

Moisture Management
Keeping your home dry is key to protecting it from damage, mold, and long-term performance issues.

Mechanical Systems
Properly sized and installed HVAC, ventilation, hot water, and other systems can improve comfort, lower energy use, and extend the life of your equipment.

Whether you are looking for a few energy-saving upgrades or a deeper home performance improvement, Shack Built applies sound building science principles to help your remodel work better for the way you live.

A great remodel starts with a strong client relationship.

At Shack Built, we believe communication, accountability, experience, and attention to detail are all part of creating a better remodeling process.

Communication
We keep our clients informed with timely, consistent updates and encourage open communication throughout the project.

Accountability
We welcome feedback and want clients to let us know when something does not feel exactly as they imagined. Your voice matters in the process.

Experience
We enjoy involving clients in their projects while also bringing the knowledge, skill, and confidence needed to do the job right.

Detail-Oriented
From planning ahead to sending reminders for signatures, permits, and approvals, our team works to keep the project moving smoothly.

Because at Shack Built, the relationship matters just as much as the remodel.

Not every remodel looks the same, and that is why Shack Built offers different project types to match your goals, budget, and scope.

Whether you are ready to completely rethink how your home functions or simply refresh the look of a space, our team helps guide you toward the right approach.

Functional Makeover
These projects involve more significant changes, such as moving walls, changing layouts, or improving how rooms function. They may include architectural plans, structural engineering, detailed 3D renderings, finish selections, and permit-ready blueprints when needed.

Visual Updates
These projects focus on improving the look and feel of a space without major structural changes. Think new cabinets, counters, tile, flooring, and fixtures without moving plumbing, walls, or appliances.

No matter the size or scope, our goal is to create a remodeling experience that feels clear, thoughtful, and built around the way you live.

Project Feature: Mid-Century Modern Bathroom

This Prairie Village bathroom remodel is a great example of how thoughtful design can completely change the way a space feels and functions.

Originally a small 1950s mid-century modern bathroom, this project included a small bump-out that added 30 square feet of space, creating a more comfortable and functional primary bath.

The old cast-iron tub was replaced with a new walk-in shower, the entry was updated with a pocket door to save space, and the toilet was relocated to improve the overall flow of the room.

One of our favorite details is the wood ceiling, designed to complement the vaulted paneled ceilings throughout the rest of the main level.

The result is a bathroom that honors the character of the home while making the space work better for modern living.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁?

What should be included in the design?
How will the space function?
Have you thought through the details behind the walls, like insulation, moisture management, efficiency, and long-term performance?

We know it can feel overwhelming. You may have the idea, but bringing it to life takes the right planning, questions, and expertise.

That is where Shack Built comes in.

Our team helps guide you through the process, ask the right questions, and create a plan that brings your project to its full potential.

Because a great remodel starts with more than a vision.
