Today I had to say goodbye to my best buddy, Peanut.

There aren't words big enough to describe how much I love this little guy or how much my heart hurts today. For 13 of his 15 years, he was by my side through so many chapters of my life. We took road trips, went on hikes, explored countless trails, and shared more walks than I could ever count. No matter where we went, I was just happy to have my little shadow with me.

Peanut was the world's best cuddler and had the sweetest soul I've ever known. He was the most innocent little angel, the kind of dog who wouldn't hurt a fly. All he ever wanted was to love and be loved.

His kisses could brighten even the hardest days, and nothing compared to seeing his tail wagging with excitement every time I walked through the door. Those moments are the ones I'll miss the most.

Fifteen years could never be enough. If love alone could have kept him here, he would have lived forever.

Today, we gave him one final act of love. We didn't say goodbye because we stopped loving him. We said goodbye because we love him too much to let him suffer.

I like to imagine that as soon as Peanut closed his eyes here, he opened them somewhere beautiful. His brother was there waiting for him, and together they're running, jumping, playing, and free from pain once again.

I hope one day I'll hear those familiar paws running toward me again. I'll feel those happy kisses, see that tail wagging, and get to hold my little buddy one more time.

Thank you, Peanut, for every walk, every adventure, every cuddle, every kiss, and every moment of unconditional love. Thank you for being my best friend and making my life infinitely better just by being in it.

You will always be loved. You will always be missed. You will always be the world's best boy.

Run free, sweet Peanut. I'll see you again someday. ❤️🐾 by @shadowq60

So you really wanna hurt me now?
We both know it's 'cause you hate yourself.
Can't be you, it's everybody else.

There are constants like gravity, heartbreak, and pain. You can never outrun them. They're part of your name.
