Fitting a Matter over Thread smart blind? Do not tuck the signal cable inside the valance. It chokes the Thread signal and tanks your range. One of those things you only learn after it goes wrong.

Into Apple Home with one scan and no hub in sight.
The @Kincmo Matter over Thread smart shade pairs straight to the Home app. Local control, no bridge, no separate app. Full review on YouTube, link in bio.

A smart blind for Apple Home that charges itself off daylight. Pairs over Matter with one scan, no hub, and I’ve never plugged it in.
Made to measure by @Kincmo.

Your Matter bridge setup keeps failing and there’s no error to tell you why?
It’s almost always this. The bridge is 2.4GHz only, your phone’s sitting on 5GHz, and band steering made that call without asking.
Fix the bands before you start, not after.

Zigbee in Apple Home. No Home Assistant required.
The Third Reality MZ1 bridge is the small Matter box that does the whole job.
Plug it in, pair Zigbee sensors, and they appear in Apple Home automatically.
Tested it for a full week. Flawless in my testing.
Part 1 of 3 in the Third Reality in Apple Home series.

The Reolink Home Hub gets undersold because the marketing says ‘local storage box’ which doesn’t sing. But it’s quietly one of the best designed pieces of kit Reolink makes — single storage point for all cameras, instant playback, encrypted with anti-theft logic, supports 2TB, and zero subscription forever. Full breakdown on my YouTube channel.

Honest take on solar panels for battery security cameras: they only work as advertised when you nail three things — mount location, movement frequency, and detection settings. Get those right and your battery is essentially infinite. Get them wrong and the panel is useless.

Real talk on the Reolink E1 Zoom: the 3x optical zoom is genuinely rare on an indoor camera at this price.
Most competitors digitally crop and call it zoom.
This one moves real glass — usable image at distance.

Not your average smoke detector. The Sensereo MSC-1 is compact, clean, and comes with a battery that has a story behind it. Full review linked in bio.

Hot take: smart home cameras are not won or lost on the spec sheet. The number on the box is marketing. What actually matters: where your footage lives, whether it works without a subscription, how fast live view opens, and what breaks at integration.

Your smoke detector should be in Apple Home. The Sensereo MSC-1 is Matter over Thread — no hub, no bridge, no faff. Live CO readings on the device. 85dB alarm. And it pairs to Apple Home in under 30 seconds.

Full review linked in the bio.

If you’ve tried bridging the Reolink Argus 4 Pro into Apple Home through Scrypted and got a black tile that won’t load — here’s the fix. The main 4K stream uses H.265, which Apple Home can’t read. Switch every stream assignment in Scrypted to the H.264 sub stream and the tile loads instantly. Full setup on my YouTube channel.
