Happy birthday to my best boy, Luca. 🐾❤️

This past year brought a lot of changes I never expected, and through all of it, this guy has been right by my side. He’s been there on the hard days, the quiet days, the days when I needed a reason to get out of the house, and the days when simply having him next to me made things feel a little more normal.

And somehow, while I’ve been figuring out a new chapter of life, Luca has decided this is his chapter to become an even bigger goofball. 😂 He’s gotten more playful, more affectionate, somehow even more adorable, and increasingly convinced that everything I own—including my bed, couch, food, and personal space—actually belongs to him.

Dogs have a funny way of never asking you to explain what you’re going through. They just stay. They bring you a toy, lean against you, make you laugh when you don’t really feel like laughing, and remind you that sometimes the best thing you can do is enjoy the moment in front of you.

I’m incredibly grateful I got to have Luca beside me through this chapter. He may have absolutely no idea how much he’s helped me, but that’s okay—he also has no idea that barking at something outside does not legally make him head of neighborhood security.

Finally Graduated with my masters in co-occurring recovery counseling. This will allow me to pursue LPCC licensure and practice mental health in addition to my current drug and alcohol counseling practice.
