Power, cruelty, passion, and surrender are the themes in this short film. The vast ocean is the mysterious unknown, that which both mesmerizes and scares. I wanted to juxtapose the violent -and at times grotesque- struggle for dominance with submission, grace, and sensuality.

The shoot was only two days, but the VFX took 4 years, on and off, to complete. The CG tentacles were complex simulations that required a custom 3D toolset, created specifically for this project. Extensive rotomation, rotoscoping, match moving, and compositing brings everything together.

In addition to writing and directing, I edited, composited, color-graded, and designed all the post effects. I was blessed with a gifted crew of four people. The actress performed very difficult athletic feats underwater, with breath held, take after take. Needless to say, her performance was flawless. by @shah_creates
