Scene Change 19.01.2024~

A groundbreaking showcase of South-Asian Welsh Talent that I had the absolute pleasure to take part in.
It was incredibly important for so many reasons, but I’m going to be a little selfish for a moment-

My Mum emigrated to the UK from Pakistan in 1997 when she married my Dad. She went to English language classes both here and in Pakistan, and speaks perfect English, but doesn’t always feel confident in her ability. She’d always feel bad when coming to plays I’d be in, not fully understanding the western stories, both from the language barrier and the cultural differences.

The stories at scene change, written by people who’s identities are formed of both South Asian and British cultures, created a space where my mum could come to the theatre, and immerse herself in live storytelling she could relate to, for the first time in the UK. I’m so grateful to @_jafariqbal_ and everyone involved and can’t wait for the next one 🤎🌏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇵🇰🇮🇳🇳🇵🇧🇩🇦🇫🇧🇹🇱🇰 taken in Sherman Theatre by @shahan_hamza
