Sooooooo thankful for the bounty of the fall! Thank you for creativity, conversation, and connection. You make my journey blindingly vibrant! by @shaharistory

I am blessed to be known in a few arenas. In November, I will celebrate my 30th year with the City Colleges of Chicago and whew! It has definitely been a journey… As I prepare to sundown a long career as a professor of African American Studies in the next couple of years, unfortunately, we as a union are staring down the barrel of a labor strike. If you see this, just send up a prayer. Pray that they reach a fair contract agreement, so that I don’t have to be hollerin' and stomping around in these Chicago streets! by @shaharistory

TUDUM! I had a ball at the Hollywood Blackout @netflix !!! To be invited to such a great event is everything! It says to us that you see us, and you know our names❤️. Thank you to every member of the amazing team and the sponsors who made this Blackity Black day of bonding and building a reality for so many talented creatives. It was great to see my @fromthewc comrades who feel more and more like my creative cuzins with every encounter. This was truly a family reunion and a much needed day, given the current climate on so many levels. Black creatives need to be supported, nurtured, inspired, and celebrated as we ascend! I had an amazing mentoring session with @stevencaplejr and queens @shondarhimes @therealdebbieallen and @feliciapride dropped strings of pearls all over that panel! Thank you to all of the mentors, who shared their time. Shout out to @davidetalbert for moderating ❤️ This was definitely one for the books! by @shaharistory

My Grandmother, Anna Rose used to bake all the time. My favorite treat was pound cake. There was something about the butter, sugar and those crunchy corners that just felt like the most delicious love. And when people stopped by the house, which was quite often she always had something to offer to them. Although she was a woman of few words, everyone who she encountered felt special… unless she flat out discerned that you wuzn't right. She was and still is my favorite person to ever grace earth. I think of her often, her grace, her beauty, her confidence and her stillness. I miss her… Soooooo, I baked this beauty and named it, “Brown Sugar Pound!” Cooking allows me to relax, vibe out, commune with her, and massage the parts of her that she pressed into my DNA. This is my inheritance ❤️ by @shaharistory

Okay @troyopryor! Thank you! I had a ball at my first ever XL Film Festival! Great info, intentional workshops, awesome vibes, unapologetically elevated, yet inclusive. Plus, I got to see all my film friends, meet sone new creative comrades, and the Obama Presidential Center! Weekend made! by @shaharistory

I had a ball as a guest speaker with the Digital Film Institute at the University of Chicago. Thank you to the Community Film Workshop and U of C for trusting me to offer feedback to such a talented group of filmmakers. Congrats on your projects! by @shaharistory

35 years ago (yes 35) I graduated from Hyde Park Career Academy. Class of 91! I had a ball reconnecting with so many people who have added color and texture to my life. Hyde Park literally had the best of everything, and helped to make me well rounded, cool af, and a lover of music and dance. Today, we share our space with Obama Presidential Center, yet another chapter to such a rich story! #alltheprettygirlswenttohydepark by @shaharistory

Took a fire and ice cruise from Hawaii to Alaska, and I met so many cool people along my journey. I danced. I sang. I saw. I read. I wrote. I even won at the casino! It was exactly what my spirit needed. I returned home well rested, more patient, more relaxed. We do not know how long we have on earth, so it is our duty to give ourselves love, light experiences and memories… Travel On! by @shaharistory
