If you were to tell us our small mobile bar business would be in the running for ‘Best New Business’ when we started less than 2 years ago, we wouldn’t have believed you. 🤯

Yet somehow ~80 events later, building a fleet from one bar on Maui to an additional two bars on Oahu, and having the opportunity to offer a memorable mobile bar experience for some incredible people/companies, we were so honored to be recognized at this year’s @pacificedge Business Achievement Awards Gala. 💃

We didn’t win, but for us that doesn’t take away from how grateful we feel for everyone who’s supported us so far - from corporate partners, distributors, local brewers, brides/grooms, parents of high school graduates or first birthday babies, event planners, venues, or even just following our journey on social media - MAHALO for all your love. We look forward to continuing to elevate bar service across Maui and Oahu. 🤙

Congrats to all the other finalists in our category, @pewa.ponopotions, @stretchlabhonolulu, @paradisemaidsoahu, @keyfitnessfittruk and to @sun_source_power for taking it home - Cheers! 🤙 taken in Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa by @shakas_up

I quit my corporate job with no back up plan.

My gf (now wife) and I had just bought our first house together.

We planned on getting engaged shortly which meant buying a ring and financing a wedding (luckily our families helped with the wedding).

I took a risk by starting my own business (thankfully my business partner had the blue print) at maybe the worst possible time as we laid the foundation for our future family.

I could’ve failed in the first 6 months and lost over $50k pursuing a dream of creating something of my own.

Yet, 1 year later @shakamobilebar was nominated as a finalist for best new business in Hawaii.

I bought the ring. We had the wedding. And we’re paying the mortgage.

Now, I’m in over $100k and we could still fail at anytime. But at this point I don’t think it would be a loss.

I’ve learned so much about life and myself that this is already a win.

If there’s one thing true about life, without risk there is no reward.

I’m lucky to have the support of my wife, family, business partner, friends, mentors and everyone that makes it possible.

If you’re wondering what life might be like if you took a risk by changing it up. Hopefully my story so far is evidence that it’s possible.

Day 13 of scaling my business in Hawaii @shakamobilebar - I’m super grateful that we are in the events industry. Yes, there are a lot of hours of planning, prep, execution, and breakdown… but the WHY couldn’t be more justifiable.

We are helping … actually, we GET to help people celebrate life’s special moments ‼️

Seeing our clients smiles, laughing with friends, and hugging their family makes it all worth it.

It’s one of the best feelings knowing that you did something that played a part in memories that will last a lifetime 💚🤙🏽

Day 12 of scaling my business in Hawaii ⛳️ I’ve been loving meeting new people out on the course and it’s been a great way to brainstorm ideas while learning more about business from people who are where I want to be.

One of my favorite parts of starting my company has been meeting other founders and being inspired by their stories and what they’ve accomplished.

Just by spending time with other business owners I feel hopeful that I can find my way in this world too 💚🤙🏽
