You can't see them under the mess of cables, but the only drums in this patch are Shakmat's three core modules - Battering Ram, Lancer's Lash, and Archer's Rig! Today in the spotlight: the Holy Trinity from Shakmat — Archer’s Rig, Battering Ram and the new Lancer Lash. I’ve had some conversations with Shakmat before, and François mentioned he did a remix for Funckarma back in the day, so we got talking. Somewhere along the way they offered to send me some modules, which I deeply appreciate. I already had their hi-hat module, which I use all the fucking time, so getting the Battering Ram and Lancer lash to make some music with was a pretty sweet deal. Today was my first proper tryout with them, and I’m also messing around with some different camera angles. Still getting the hang of it, but I think I pulled this one off nicely. The patch is running at 132 BPM. All triggers are coming from Acid Rain Constellation. I start with a simple kick and snare going into the Morphader, while the other side has a more complex kick and snare sequence. Everything else you hear — the delays, filtered sounds and rhythmic madness — is basically derived from the kick, snare and hats, processed and layered on top. Apart from a little bassline that comes in later to give the beat a different feel, everything is coming from the three Shakmat modules. I’m modulating pretty much everything possible, with some chaotic modulation from the Batumi by Xaoc Devices, then mixing everything down through a Eurorack mixer. And yeah… I really like this. The Battering Ram is fucking punchy. It sits somewhere between 808 and 909 territory, with distortion and loads of modulation possibilities. And the Lancer Lash surprised me even more. The snare has that familiar 808/909 character, but with a lot more body underneath if you want it. I tried the FM model and it immediately sounded fucking good. Very intuitive, very usable, and straight away it sounds like a proper snare. I’ve got quite a few drum modules, but this was exactly what I was missing: a snare with body, attack and enough complexity to cut through even dense programming. First time. First try. And I like it. Peace out #idmmusic #eurorackmodular #shakmatmodular by @shakmatmod

Just arrived and ready to ship. You can try all Shakmat modules in our shop. The Lancer’s Lash is a dedicated snare drum synthesizer built to cover everything from tight classic hits to completely off-the-map percussion. Compact and focused, it explores several approaches to snare synthesis, giving you a wide palette of strikes, from clean and punchy to fractured and experimental. Multiple models sit at the core of the module, ranging from analog-style synthesis to physical modeling, granular textures, and FM percussion. Each engine brings its own character, letting you dial anything from familiar drum machine snaps to strange metallic bursts and evolving hybrid snares. To keep patterns alive, Lancer’s Lash includes an onboard randomizer for subtle variations or more adventurous rhythmic outcomes. Velocity sensitivity adds expressive dynamics, while 256 preset slots keep your favorite strikes ready to fire again via CV or Select Bus. #shakmatmodular #shakmatlancerslash #modularsynthesizer #modularsynth https://www.synthesizer.gr/shakmat-modular-lancer’s-lash by @shakmatmod

Shakmat call it a snare synthesiser. I spent a day finding out what happens when you stop asking it to be one. Seven engines, a randomiser that rewrites the sound on every hit, and some places it really should not have gone. This module is all sweet spots! New video up now — link in bio. #eurorack #modularsynth #shakmat #drumsynthesis #modularsynth @shakmatmod by @shakmatmod
