The main ingredient, the 🌟 of the show.... whole goat milk from spoiled, silly, fantastic girls. 💜 (Also why is it so satisfying to watch it flow into the jar?)

Spicebush - Lindera benzoin, aka Appalachian (app-ah-LATCH-in) allspice. I had a whole post written about it on the old account, so bear with me!

This common, native eastern gem is a favorite of one of my kids, and became familiar to me as a result. Its uses as a supportive "herb" are often digestive related... take a look at a source you love!

In addition, it's sometimes used in place of allspice in the kitchen, in a 1:1 ratio. Simple, because the berries are so easy to find and dry if you're walking in the woods. BUT! Beware of its look-a-like, the invasive Asian honeysuckle... which really doesn't look like spicebush at all, with striped (zebra) bark and somewhat translucent berries. Spicebushes have much smoother bark, and opaque berries.

Have you ever tried this one? Would you try either the berries or the aerial parts in a tisane/tea?

Kid camp has arrived! Did you know that mammals must (except in unusual circumstances) have offspring before they lactate? Goats are the perfect example.

Your goat milk lotion begins way before the milk is produced by our spoiled girls... Deklan decided to try to woo Pecan before he even got out of the truck. 😂

These little bitties were SO popular this weekend. I'm going to work on getting a good stock of them made, and then figure out how to stock them at at least several of our shops!

It is such an honor to be with framily who "get" you... but sometimes coming back to your own space and being warm and dry is the best.

Thank you to all the wonderful people we met this weekend at the Covered Bridge Festival!

How do you know your soaps are authentically made with goat milk?

First- it should be either the first or second ingredient listed. Second... it should have the Shale Hollow stamp in the lower corner. 💜

Shameless plug? Yes. Hope it was actually helpful with that first one though, because many soaps are labeled as "goat milk," but it isn't a main ingredient.

Watching Cobbler chase grasshoppers (and her sister) is one of my favorite things. One of the sweetest cats around turns into a fierce hunter for a bit. Only problem is... she likes to play with her food. 👀

I hope your Monday is as funny as Pecan's. 😂 She (all of them, really) is glad it dried off enough to go out to their pasture.

I think, thankfully, we out-hustled today... got it done despite the weather. It all started from a sparky extension cord (which somehow decided to do so right in front of hubby).

The only things that still need to be tidied are the ground as it settles, and a couple of things need fastened, but it's too squishy to use a ladder where I need to do so.
