I rated shoes from my 20-year pro volleyball career. The one I won a championship in came last 😅

adidas Harden Vol. 1 "Pioneer" · 6.2/10
The shoe I won the championship in the Netherlands with. Super grippy, and the adidas cushioning was always the best thing for my knees. The problem is the leather toe box. It takes forever to soften before your toes can move freely. Once they broke in they were great. Getting there was painful.

Under Armour Curry 3ZER0 · 7.2/10
Bought it in the Netherlands because it was cheap. Kept wearing it because of the extra-wide toe box, and I have extra-wide feet. High-top, so my ankles felt protected. The rubber sole is hard though, and it takes a while until the cushioning kicks in. Also the white and gold looked really good with the national team gear.

Nike Zoom KD 10 "City Edition" · 8.2/10
Bought it only for the color. The whole sole is one big air bubble, so it really feels like walking on a pillow. I popped the pillow after about a month 🫠 After that the shoe was finished.

Nike G.T. Cut Academy · 8.9/10
I bought this one three different times. Low-top, wide toe box, looks great, and the cushioning is decent for the price. The only issue is it doesn't last. The cushioning goes away pretty quickly, probably because of the cheaper materials.

9.1/10
One of my favorites of all time. I wore these in the U.S. when I played for GCU. The strap around the ankle holds everything together, it feels like wearing ankle braces without losing mobility. The con: they're a big eye-catcher, so once fans saw them they heckled me more than usual 👀

What's the one shoe you wore until it literally fell apart?

20 years of pro volleyball taught me that the agent matters as much as the contract 🏐

You'll be on the phone with this person a lot. If the language, the vibe and the trust aren't there, it doesn't matter how good the offer sounds. If it doesn't feel right, it isn't.

Not legal advice, just my own experience.

What would you add to this list? 👇

Found a hill. Brought a kettlebell. Brought 3 dogs.
Only one of them finished. 🐕

The plan: 4 rounds, then run the hill until I throw up. I didn’t throw up. Barely.

THE HILL 🏔️
4 rounds:
12 goblet squats
12 KB swings
12 KB rows
12 KB press
12 hammer curls
12 push-ups (not on the kettlebell. Learn from me.)
Run the hill

Save this for the next hill you find. Would you try it?

20 years of pro volleyball and I never needed a hobby. Volleyball was the hobby.

I quit a few months ago. Since then it was work, content, travel. Always something.

Then I took one day off. Sat in the sun for a few hours with nothing to do. Turns out I don't know what I like to do when nobody is paying me or keeping score.

And no, the skateboard doesn't count. I think.

What's your hobby? Tell me in the comments, I'm taking suggestions.

19 years of professional volleyball taught me one major lesson: Staying in shape isn’t about working harder—it’s about training smarter. 🏐💥

When you spend almost two decades jumping thousands of times a year, your body becomes your ultimate laboratory.
Here are 5 workout & fitness lessons I learned the hard way 👇

1️⃣ GRAVITY ALWAYS WINS (TRAIN THE LANDING) 📉
The jump doesn't break your joints; the landing does. Stop focusing only on explosive power. Eccentric leg training and single-leg stability are what saved my knees and kept me on the court.

2️⃣ MOBILITY > PURE STRENGTH 🧘‍♂️
A stiff body is a fragile body. Real athletic strength lives in a full range of motion. Prioritizing thoracic spine mobility and shoulder health completely transformed my performance.

3️⃣ YOUR CORE IS A TRANSFER ENGINE ⚡
Six-pack abs look cool, but your core’s real job is transferring energy from the ground to your hit. Swap endless crunches for anti-rotation holds and med-ball work.

4️⃣ "NO PAIN, NO GAIN" IS A TRAP 🛑
Learn to tell the difference between muscle fatigue and joint irritation. High-quality sleep, mobility work, and listening to warning signs early will add years to your career.

5️⃣ CONSISTENCY BEATS INTENSITY 🔄
A solid, focused 45-minute session done consistently for years will always beat burning out in a month of "hardcore" workouts. Play the long game.
💬 Which of these 5 hits home most for your current training? Let me know below! 👇

Day 66. The last day I'm counting 🏁

Before I started this, I looked up how long it takes to build a new habit. The study I found said the median is 66 days, anywhere from 18 to 254 depending on the person. I know I'm not the average person, but if the study says 66, I'll take 66.

I didn't do this to get jacked or get abs. I wanted training to happen no matter where the van is parked. Now every time we park, the first thing I think is when do I train and where. One kettlebell, whatever spot we end up in. That was the whole point 🙌

So I don't need the camera to keep me honest anymore. But I like making these, so you're not getting rid of me that easily. Same workouts, new places, just no more numbers on the cover 😅

Be honest, what habit have you started more than once and never made it past the first few weeks?

Day 65. I once took a day off work and drove two hours to see a sports psychologist. He cancelled while I was sitting in his parking lot. 🚗

A normal person thinks "ok, meetings happen." My brain went straight to "you're not good enough and he has better things to do."

That was me for most of my volleyball career. I read every look from a coach or a teammate as a verdict on me, and then I fought with all of them about it. Moving abroad just to play made it louder. If I screw this up, what am I even good for?

It took me years to get that how I play has nothing to do with what I'm worth. I still got super nervous before matches after that. It just stopped being about me. 🏐

No quick fix here, the full story is in the video. If you've had your own parking lot moment, tell me about it in the comments. I read all of them.
