Had a blast during my short but sweet visit north of the border to catch the Royals playing the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre with my dad. We were supposed to go to the second game but got delayed and missed it, sadly. The third game was a glorious blowout and we had a great time. Also got to meet @houston_chr ‘s cousin @penpenknitknot and her husband Phillip and we had dinner at the CN Tower (which was absolutely incredible). Toronto was a great city and I would love to visit again. taken in Rogers Centre by @shalloboi

I went to see @la_witch (who I’ve never seen before) and @theblackangels at Warehouse on Broadway last night. They played Passover in its entirety. The last time I saw them was in 2008 at Logan Square Auditorium and this time was much better. It was a very satisfying Monday night outing- I usually try to stay home on Mondays and rest and recharge, but this wound up serving the same effect. I spend so much effort trying to avoid crowds, that it’s nice to remember I can still have a good time in one taken in Warehouse On Broadway by @shalloboi

Quick birthday trip to St. Louis with @stefaniegrrr to see the Royals snap their losing streak against the Cardinals. We made it to 4 Hands Brewing and stayed at the hotel across from the ballpark, enjoying the rooftop bar there. I got in trouble at the entrance for my choice of T-shirt which included a particularly great @lucas.erceg quote- I had to button up my Hawaiian shirt to get in, which was okay. Great day, great game and great birthday- here’s to 47 taken in Busch Stadium by @shalloboi

That’s a wrap on 2025. I didn’t really realize it at the time, but I had to pull myself out of the depths. Fun experiences, good music and good company helped pull me through as usual- here are some examples of all of those things (I would include many people who don’t appear in these pictures). I’ve emerged a little stronger, wiser and more grateful. More to build on for next year. by @shalloboi

'you're a vision'- wanted to post something somewhat festive and remembered making this video way back in 2013. I'd been given a digital camera in 2011 and took it downtown while my aunt and uncle were visiting us in Chicago over Christmas. We walked around and I discovered how to take intersting, manipulated pictures of the many lights we saw. This song was recorded as an experiment around 2010ish- recorded the guitars quickly in a day and added effects later (which I'd never done before). Briefly in the building where we lived there was a Hammond V3 organ in a music practice room there, which I, again added quickly and somewhat on a whim. We were playing with a string section at the time and the results kind of speak for themselves- again, quickly, almost on a whim. I also did an experiment where I layered the song using two different 8-tracks using the same vocal on each tape (they fall gradually out of sync, creating a dreamy, unexpected effect). The song wound up being finished so quickly that I wanted to release it immediately, so it became the second in a series of four singles called 'field of flowers,' the first two singles were funded through a kickstarter campaign. We used to play this one live a fair amount while we were playing shows with the string section around the time of 'all hope is blind.' The video was made after the singles were released and were also an absurdly happy accident- I created two different layers of evolving shots that fell in and out of sync. Some were the raw images, the others edited in photoshop. The moving effect combined with the layers accidentally created a space and depth that was entirely accidental. The whole process was a little too coincidental to not share. by @shalloboi
