3L's, my first mini-compilation of stories and poems about #love and #loss is so close to my heart, and was recently reviewed on@bellanaijaonline by @thebookladyng.

'Alonge invites us to embrace our vulnerability in this moving debut that leaves one in anticipation of her next robust piece of work.'

Took this picture on my mums 70th birthday in September. (->Slide to see the Elegant Twins)

***
Looking at this image, all I could think of - a month before my birthday - is my nieces comment, 'Aunty Shally, you're not old yet'

The keyword here is 'yet.' She then proceeded to compare me with her mum and one of my cousins, which I wouldn't mention. 😃

I thought 30 was old when I was graduating from the university at 21. Look at us now rocking our 30s. 😎

Let my niece graduate from the University, and see how the year's just piles up😋.

This long story is just to say...aging is an unmerited gift, embrace it.

How can I thank you?
How can my heart show it's gratitude?
How do I explain?
That my journey in life was a moulding of your works
The assembling of your hands
The painting of your brush
The digging, grinding, polishing
It has been a long journey
Years of labour
And my heart is full with gratitude
For being birthed by a human as amazing as you. #HappyMothersDay #MothersDay. by @shallyalonge
