1) you must give your family n friends a lot of your time.

Cards must be handmade, cakes baked and gifts customised.

It’s an inconvenience, but it’s a privilege to be inconvenienced by people you love and who love you.

2) you must try new things.

You will be good at some things and others bad - both are acceptable outcomes.

Your existence is not embarrassing. That’s all in your head.

3) all outfits must be worn and weathered.

If you like every article of clothing in your wardrobe, you will like your outfit by default.

There is no hierarchy in your wardrobe. Designer garments are fit for weddings, running errands and getting on the French metro.

4) say yes a lot, to people, opportunities n places.

You end up with some weird and wonderful experiences.

5) give God credit for everything.

schoolwork = trek to Everest.

I’ve been reflecting on the 130km for some time now. It was one of the most physically demanding, yet unironically, relaxing experiences I have had the privilege of doing.
