My Caballo 🕊️
2008–2026

Dear my beloved Sam 🤍

In 2016 at Nationals in Sydney, I met you just two days before the competition… and somehow, it felt like the universe placed you in my life exactly when I needed you. After only a couple of rides together, we went into that ring and placed against so many established combinations. Not long after, you just had to come home to Perth with me. That was the start of us.

You’ve been by my side since I was 16, and now at 26, I don’t really know a version of life that didn’t have you in it. Through all the years that shaped me, you were my constant, my rock.

You carried me through everything; high school, my modelling career, and the long, unpredictable hours of shift work where we’d ride at all times of the day and night just to make it work. You molded yourself around my life so selflessly.

Thank you for everything you gave me… a place on the WA Rising Star Squad, state and national competitions, Royal Shows, winning Alcoa International Horse Trials, and becoming Overall Champion at the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games. You even modelled with me and made a magazine cover… because that’s exactly who you were.. a true allrounder.

But it was never really about any of that. It was always just you and me. Everyone always said you were “my horse” because the love you had for me was something people could physically see in you. And I love you just as much as you loved me.

You gave Mum and I something so special too. Looking after you became our thing. The early mornings and late nights, the road trips, the shows, and simply loving you. You brought my relationship with my parents closer in ways I’ll always be grateful for.

Thank you for growing up with me. Thank you for carrying me through life in every sense of the word. There will never, ever be another you.

I miss you more than words could will ever be able to say. Loving you meant choosing what was best for you, no matter how hard it was. Thank you for giving me such special final days with you. If love was enough, you’d live forever. Until we meet again… I love you 🕊️🤍 by @shanayaliana
