Years spent exploring Asia, India, and Central America with her best friend Malachi planted an idea: Could their curiosity about the people behind beautiful objects become a business?

In 2018, they founded @magda_made, named after the Magdalena River, which flows through the heart of Colombia.

What began with a few baskets carried home in suitcases grew into relationships with artisan communities across the country. Today, Magda Made exports some of Colombia’s most interesting handicrafts to the world.

To celebrate @danizabal’s 39th bday, and to visit our artisan partners in San Jacinto, and MOST importantly because our 6-year-old, tripawd diva, Chiripa, had never seen the ocean — we decided to do a week long roadtrip to the Colombian coast.
