If I had to describe my superpower, I would say it’s being a nurse. From earning my degree to now working in the field, this journey has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Nursing has given me some of my hardest days, but also some of my most meaningful and rewarding moments.One of the toughest experiences I’ve faced was losing a 5-month-old patient at the beginning of my shift, yet somehow finding the emotional and mental strength to continue caring for others for the remaining 12 hours. Moments like that stay with you forever. Still, despite the heartbreak that can come with this profession, I would choose this career a million times over.There is something so special about hearing a patient say, “Ay mi hija, qué bueno que tú hablas español,” and being able to comfort them in a language that feels like home. Or my 92-year-old patient trying to tip me $5 because “words cannot explain how grateful I am for the care I received.” No amount of money could ever replace the feeling that comes with knowing you made someone feel safe, cared for, and seen.Nursing has brought me countless unforgettable moments and introduced me to some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. It has shaped me in ways I could have never imagined, and I thank God every day for allowing me to walk this path.What a beautiful week to be recognized for doing something I love so deeply. I’m proud of every life I’ve touched, every lesson I’ve learned, and every challenge that shaped me into the nurse I am today.
