Stepping into your own power can be terrifying because it can feel unpredictable, unlike the lifelong predictability of feeling powerless 🍂🐦‍🔥🕯️

I 💚 nature.

Remembering to honor our home on this beautiful land and continuing to hope for the health of the planet 🌎 She’s a survivor that inspires me to persevere to greater heights, climbing ever closer to actualization of my goals and dreams.

It’s already getting so cold, so remember to get your sun 🌞 while you can y’all

Officially CPR & AED certified for adults, the elderly, and children✅⛑️

I recently saw a friend who stopped into town on tour that said “I didn’t think I’d ever see you again.” And when I inquired further, they said “I didn’t know where you were.”

And that shit kinda hit.

I’ve been on a journey of recovery from survival mechanisms that no longer serve me, that were instilled in me before and after my birth due to intergenerational CSA, inc*st, foster care, and domestic violence trauma.

I’m currently in Vermont doing domestic care for some awesome new chosen family, and I’m feeling the best that I’ve ever felt even though my body is still inflamed, my muscles and joints hurt constantly, my energy is low, and I still cycle through internal mental beat downs that target my self-worth due to how my disabilities have set me back in the short and long term.

I’m starting to find answers though even though my future is really uncertain and money is really tight. Sometimes you have to leap into the unknown because that’s the only option for survival.

There’s so much gratitude in clarity.

I need you to know that I’m safe, and I often think about the various communities that have uplifted me throughout time and space.

Please reach out if we haven’t talked in a while. Know that I’m proud of you, and I love you.

HAGS

This series of portraits wouldn’t have happened without @lex.app existing for me to put up a call for queer and trans models. I’m really proud of it, and I hope it brings you as much joy as we had shooting. The idea was to give my gifts back to my community in the hopes that they see themselves as they are in their current gender euphoria <3

I’m hoping to book paid gigs in the Spring/Summer when I’m back from my artist residency, so keep a lookout for my booking form, etc. once that’s launched.

Much love,

SD xoxo taken in Astoria Park by @shanededman.zip
