My precious Darius is 14. He was found as a very young kitten under a house all alone - no siblings and no mom. I couldn’t let him have an uncertain future so home with me he came to join Peyton, Beckham and Cal - all gone now. 💔💔💔He is the last of my OG crew and has always been his own dude. Lovable as a kitten (that’s what they do to win you over), he became mostly aloof and skittish as he grew older and is now downright feral at times - he gets extremely anxious and stressed out. He loved his big bro Peyton, but other than him he never really bonded with any of the others who have come and gone, always preferring his own company. Not only is he not a lap cat, you cannot pick him up much less even touch him for the most part. But every now and then his sweet side appears, like this morning when he came to nuzzle my face and purr. He has been *extremely* PO’d at me the last two days so I was happy to be forgiven.❤️ Today we got a diagnosis of lymphoma, with lymph nodes in his abdomen extremely large - 5 to 6 cm compared to a normal .5. Lucky there is no mass causing a major blockage, and we can treat him for awhile with steroids and a couple of other meds. There is still opportunity for quality of life, at least for a few months. His story is not over yet and I’m grateful to have more time with him. 🩶🤍 by @shannydale
