On this October 15 (and every day), I am the 1 in 4.

18 years ago today I was pregnant.
Four weeks later - I wasn’t.

Thus ended our one chance at a child of our own, a loss I still mourn in some small way daily.

While the grief ebbs and flows, changes shape and colour and size, it is a constant that will never fully go away.

If you’re lucky, your workplaces will give you more than great experiences — they’ll give you great people. ❤️

Five of us who once worked together are now all doing different things, but it’s always a pleasure to come back together. So grateful for the friendships and connections that continue long after the jobs have changed!

What a beautiful day to Run for the Cure!

I’m so proud to have participated in the Durham Region edition of the @cancersociety CIBC Run for the Cure today - and grateful to have crossed the finish line before the unexpected rain rolled in! It was definitely a hot one and I was more than a little overheated by the end, but every step was absolutely worth it.

More than 1,500 people participated, raising over $355,000 in support of the one in eight women who will be impacted by breast cancer in their lifetime. What an incredible accomplishment in my amazing community.

It was also wonderful spending time with fellow CCS colleagues who live in the area, taking in the beautiful scenery, and of course, enjoying interactions with some adorable furry participants!

I’m especially proud to have reached my $1,000 stretch fundraising goal! A huge thank you to everyone who supported me, donated, encouraged me, or simply cheered me on. Your support meant so much and helped make today even more meaningful.

All in all, an incredible day for an incredible cause. 💖👟🌊

October has arrived and that means we’re less than three days away from the CIBC Run for the Cure! Last year I ran it in beautiful (but chilly) Calgary, and this year I’ll be running the Durham route close to home. Weather looks like it will cooperate (fingers crossed), and I’ve been doing some training - all is left is to cross my fundraising finish line!

I set a $500 goal for this race which would match what I recently raised in July for the dog walking challenge. I’m so appreciative of the support I got then and if you missed that opportunity or it didn’t interest you as much as supporting breast cancer might, I would be delighted if you’d help me raise the final $124 required to get me to that goal.

Funds raised fuel vital research, support, and advocacy programs for the 1 in 8 women who will face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.

Thank you for supporting not only me but the thousands of Canadians the Run will positively impact. 💖👟🙏

And with a 5-1 loss against a team we should have beat, our 2026 ‘see the Jays at home’ season ends with a whimper compared to last year’s bang.

Enjoyed a pre-game lunch at the top of the @cntower (delicious) then sat in the sun and cheered on our team, because that’s what you do.

I love baseball. I love the stamina over 162 games and the comebacks and the unlikely heroes and the ‘this could be our year’ and everything - including the heartbreak - in between. And I really love the friendships it’s helped foster, particularly the one I value so highly with @una_gabriella. Hard to believe this marks ten seasons of baseball-ing together. So glad baseball brought us together, and if there really isn’t a season next year, we’ll have so much more than the Jays to keep our friendship strong. 💙⚾️#tofriendship #theresalwaysnextyear #bluejays by @shanstu
