🎥 Recent Reel Change awardee @shaothejean’s work will be featured at this year’s @tribeca Film Festival in the film @retrieval.doc on June 4th!

Shao Jean is a Singaporean composer, producer, and songwriter working in film, TV, and records. Her music moves across eclectic sound worlds, reframing orchestral writing and modern production through texture and space. She has contributed additional music for I Know What You Did Last Summer (Sony) and Eric (Netflix), for Emmy-nominated composers Chanda Dancy and Keefus Ciancia. More from Shao about her experience as a Reel Change awardee:

“Thank you so much for awarding the grant to the doc ‘Retrieval!’ The support was a real game changer for the level of detail and production we were able to achieve for the film. I was able to record and work with some amazing folks. The director also attended the strings session and was so thrilled by the process and results!”

JOHN soundtrack is out everywhere!

One of the most fun I’ve had with a score — when Amirah and I first starting talking about the project, we wanted to create something that captured all the messy, complex, and nuanced sides of Abigail/John, brought to life so powerfully by @samanthamarieware.

@amirahadem totally let me play on this one and I found myself building a percussion-forward world for this.

Shoutout to these folks who brought this score to life — their artistry and dedication inspire me.
