I still remember making my very first cake at 11 years old. 🥹🤍 Mom was at a friend’s house on the 6th floor, and every 20 minutes, I would go looking for her just to ask, “Mom, what’s the next step?” 😂👩🏽‍🍳

Little did I know that those small moments were shaping the woman I am today.

“When I grow up, I want to be like my MOM.” 🤲🏽🤍✨

A prayer I carried in my heart, and a dream I’m living, one bake at a time. Alhamdulillah. 🥹❤️🙏🏽

Summer’s winding down, and I’m settling in with an ode and a little farewell to late summer flavours. 🍑☀️

It wasn’t quite the summer I imagined, but I’m learning that in life, we can’t have everything exactly the way we want.

It was a strange one, especially with my new 4 AM routine . I went to sleep while the sunshine was still calling, and came home tired, but happy and excited to make myself a plate of fruit and enjoy it under the UV. Somehow, those little moments made it all worth it.

Here are a few of my favourite things to enjoy this time of the year ✨

Yess I wasn’t good at university, and for 6 years I thought that meant failing.

I was raised by a single mother, in a world where we’re taught there’s only one way to live: study, graduate, work, fall in love, get married, have children.

BEING A CHEF ?
this is not a Career !
being a doctor or a lawyer is seen as the “successful” path, choosing to become a chef felt like a risk.

But thankfully, my mother always believed in me. Even when my dreams didn’t make sense to everyone else. And sometimes, having just one person who believes in you is enough to give you the courage to start again.

Changing direction doesn’t mean you’ve missed your chance.

I moved countries, started from zero, found what I love, started running, made new friends, wrote my first e-book and became a Sous Chef. Damn I’m grateful for every unexpected turn.
