25 years ago today, I received the worst phone call of my life.

9/11 had just happened & I just found out my boyfriend of 3 years was cheating on me. I didn't think it could get any darker....& then I lost my dad.

A quarter of a century has passed, but the grief & his memory have never left.

So many of us carry dates that bring back awful memories. We all have those moments where everything crashes down at once & navigating those anniversaries is incredibly hard.

But it's nice when a dark day can hold a little bit of positive light, too. Today is California's very first official Dolly Parton Day.

If we have to wade through the heavy stuff, we might as well channel a little of Dolly's sparkle, resilience & huge heart.

Not my best moment, but good company makes it better. 🎧🐾

Slipped & broke my leg. Was hoping it was just a sprained ankle so I drove myself to the ER & then home. Apparently, after having 2 kids, you can handle any pain! And I'm sure @johnwandler appreciates the birthday gift of me being out of commission for awhile. 🫣
