Sketch & Connect was at the Central Mosque, Wembley. We had a great group of parents and children from the mosque joining us alongside members of the public who were keen to visit this converted church built in 1904 and now a Muslim place of worship. As we sat there we listened to the call to prayer and responded drawing lines in rhythm to this soundscape. We also did some mark making, then drew our surroundings while discussing the benefits of drawing @sharedcity taken in Central Mosque Wembley by @sharedcity

Sketch & Connect was at St Augustine’s, Kilburn. Known as ‘The Cathedral of North London’ built in the Gothic style of the thirteenth century. Work began in 1871 and was consecrated in 1880. St Augustine was the first Archbishop of Canterbury. There was so much to draw inside, it was awe inspiring. We will return for another session on 21 Nov, 2-3.30. We are sketching live at St Augustines in Kilburn - with @rachellum_creative and @caroline.wonders

St Augustine's was built over many years. The main section was consecrated in 1880, with the 250ft spire added more than a decade later. The spire was the second tallest in London at the time (after St Paul's!) & could be seen for miles around.

The church is so big it has been dubbed the Cathedral of North London & is considered a gothic revival masterpiece, designed by J L Pearson, with later additions by Giles Gilbert Scott (designer of the iconic red telephone box & grandson of George Gilbert Scott, the architect of St Pancras).

It is protected as a Grade I listed building.

Sketch & Connect was at Ealing Road Library again. Loving the creative energy from people who haven’t drawn for years. They all found the experience meditative and valued taking time for themselves. We do both physical warm up, followed by drawing warm up. Then we chose to do mindful colouring in or draw from objects that represent the different variety of faith venues that are hosting our project. Thank you to the wonderful librarians for making us feel so welcome @sharedcity taken in Ealing Road Library by @sharedcity

What a wonderful & hopeful way to spend an afternoon: visiting FIVE different faith venues within a single mile.

An eclectic group of local people, some religious, some not - a perfect representation of our neighbourhood - walked from one venue to the next over 3.5 hours.

At the synagogue we were given tea & rugelach, at the mosque we had kalonji & pakoras, and at all the venues we experienced kindness, beauty & joy.

On the walk we shared stories, traditions and culture. We laughed & explored.

It was so special and a reminder of what makes London such a exceptional city. So many neighbourhoods are like this.

Sometimes we don't take time to appreciate how brilliant our communities are.

We know these are not easy times but this is why it is so important to keep sharing the magic & looking towards the light.

We did a drawing meditation translating words like peace, happiness and tranquility onto our page through mark making. Sketch & Connect was at the Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir yesterday. We did some mindful drawing inside and then came outside into the glorious October sunshine to make rubbings from the stone carvings which were crafted in India and shipped to London. The building took 14 years to build. There are 50 deities inside and out. A lot to be inspired by. Thanks to Wates for supporting our initiatives to bring communities closer by sketching inside faith venues along Ealing Road, Wembley @sharedcity taken in Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir, Wembley by @sharedcity
