Autumn comes to Tory Hill! I've captured the First Congregational Church of Buxton in the winter so it only seemed fitting to capture it during the most vibrant time of the year! I must say the colors did not disappoint! I guess I should work on spring and summer versions to complete the four seasons! 😃

While capturing some aerials of the sunrise over OOB, I couldn't help but drawn to that first light of the day being cast across the land! Realizing I was in such close proximity to our favorite campground of the area, @paradiseparkresort , I thought I'd capture a few aerials of it with Milliken Pond casting some wonderful reflections! It's sad to think we have to wait until Memorial weekend to enjoy some relaxing time at the campground!

After the first two nights being a bust for viewing the 9/11 Tribute Lights atop Mt Washington from the scenic overlook in Limerick due to cloud cover and fog, Dawn and I set out on Friday to North Conway to take advantage of the predicted clear conditions.
I really didn't have a set location in mind, so I was kind of winging it. I knew Mt Washington was visible from many locations along Conway so I wasn't too concerned. I had several ideas in mind about how I wanted to capture the tribute, but also knew it would likely be busy, so I concentrated more on just being able to witness them and less concerned about capturing them if it didn't work out.
Although the viewing of the summit is spectacular along Rt 302 when traveling past Schouler Park and Zebs, I opted to check out the view I vaguely remembered along River Rd. We ended up joining about 20 other viewers above Hussey Field. The summit was barely visible above the tree tops, but with 8:00 quickly approaching we settled in to catch a glimpse when the first turned them on.
I must admit, being a photographer and understanding long exposure, I was also caught off guard at just how faint the twin lights would be. Although only 16 miles away, the columns of light were hardly visible with the naked eye. Every time your eyes started to adjust, another set of headlights from behind would take away what little night vision you had finally obtained.
This photo does not represent what was visible with the naked eye where we stood. Just like viewing the Northern Lights around this area, your camera is your best friend. A 10 second exposure, either from a cell phone on night mode, or any other camera was the best way to bring the columns of light into the view so many people expect just by sight. Regardless it was a humbling experience to witness and be present for.
In this photo you will notice the lower corner of the Big Dipper almost perfect aligns with the columns of light from the summit. And the final reason I decided to share this photo is the capture of what is believed to be the International Space Station streaking by above both the columns of light and the Big Dipper. taken in North Conway, New Hampshire by @sharedperspectivesphotography

And just like that, another summer has come and gone! While we technically have just under 2 weeks remaining, the (un)official end of summer around here concluded at the end of Labor Day. Just like years past, our Labor Day weekend was spent both fireside and beach side in Old Orchard Beach at Paradise Park Resort Campground!
This year I opted to try for some sunrise aerials right off, as opposed to waiting until the last day. Friday morning I got out of the camper and down to the pier with plenty of time, however, Mother Nature decided to hide the sun behind an overcast sky. Morning number 1 and sunrise was a bust!
Saturday morning I set my alarm to give it another go. Walking out of the camper I was at least greeted by a starry sky so I knew I had a chance to capture sunrise! As I made my way out of the campground I caught a glimpse of some nice clouds to the east. The closer it got to sunrise, the more the clouds seemed to congregate in that direction. The result was just the perfect amount to fill the frame without obstructing a perfect glowing orb as it rose from the horizon! 😀

“The Goddess Luna draws the veil across the world as colors pale. Her glowing face reflects the light and pulls the stars into the night.” Epic Universe became more epic as the sun went down and the lights came up! I could have spent all night capturing all of that spectacular illumination! taken in EPIC Universe by @sharedperspectivesphotography

Six years ago this month I captured this foggy aerial of Limington Rapids and the Saco River. I always love this time of year when the cool mornings aid in creating some of that moody fog! Time to start thinking of some more areas to visit on these upcoming cool mornings!
