Hoy se cumplen ya tres semanas de los terremotos.
.
El 23 de junio estaba celebrando haber logrado exponer en el Mudec. La obra “Caribay” me tuvo trabajando durante meses, contactando desde la distancia a personas de mi país porque deseaba crear a partir de SUS recuerdos de NUESTRA tierra.
.
No he podido publicar nada sobre Caribay. Todos tenemos el corazón roto, y el terremoto me ha conmovido tan profundamente que hoy siento que el arte es una cobija que nada arropa. Tengo muchas dudas.
.
Solo puedo agradecer que, a través de Caribay, conocí no solo a las hermosas personas de mi tierra que, con tanto cariño y paciencia, decidieron aportar su granito de arena a mi obra, sino también a dos personas extraordinarias: @rayalexander77 y Génesis @mundodejelly, quienes, sin conocerse, eligieron el mismo lenguaje del amor y de la entrega hacia toda esa gente que hoy —en gran parte— sigue allí, sepultada.
.
Puedo decir que fue el arte el que me llevó hasta ellos, y que hoy son mi único vínculo directo y real con esta tragedia, porque de todo lo demás ya no se sabe cuánto es verdad y cuánto es distorsión en esta guerra de imágenes y de poder.
.
Quizás entonces tenga sentido este camino que recorro, hoy tan pasivo.
.
Quiero dejar aquí a todas esas personas que Caribay trajo hasta mí. Muchos siguen allá en Vzla; otros, como yo, estamos de este lado “privilegiado” del panorama. Todos estamos llorando el mismo dolor al ver a nuestro país envuelto en tanta miseria y tanto sufrimiento, ahora también con olor a muerte.
.
Te extraño en mis moléculas, Venezuela bonita.
.

Caribay.
“…las águilas blancas se levantaron perpendicularmente sobre aquella altura hasta perderse en el espacio. No se dibujaron más sus sombras sobre la tierra. Entonces Caribay corrió de un risco a otro por las escarpadas sierras, regando el suelo con sus lágrimas”

Venezuela perdió su último glaciar en 2024.
Caribay nace de esta pérdida.
Proyectados sobre el agua, fragmentos de recuerdos de paisajes glaciares aparecen y se disuelven. Los cuerpos permanecen parciales. Las sombras se superponen.
El paisaje sobrevive gracias a quienes lo recuerdan. Lo que emerge nunca es el glaciar en sí, sino las huellas que persisten después de su desaparición.

Caribay begins there.
Projected onto water, memories of glacial landscapes appear and dissolve. Bodies remain partial. Shadows overlap.
The landscape survives through those who remember it. What emerges is never the glacier itself, but the traces that persist after its disappearance.

Il Venezuela ha perso il suo ultimo ghiacciaio nel 2024.
Caribay nasce da lì.
Proiettati sull’acqua, ricordi di paesaggi glaciali appaiono e si dissolvono. I corpi rimangono parziali. Le ombre si sovrappongono.y
Il paesaggio sopravvive attraverso coloro che lo ricordano. Ciò che emerge non è mai il ghiacciaio stesso, ma le tracce che persistono dopo la sua scomparsa.

El artista que me acompaña.
Crea obras de arte con mis sueños.
Canta las canciones más románticas sin saber de música.
Pasa sus días programando robots para agilizar ventas y procesos, pero reconoce el canto de cada pajarito.
.
Siamo andati al concerto per il nostro anniversario, non sapevo nessuna canzone e tu tutte.
Ma la nostra si ..quella che metti quando ci arrabbiamo.

anche quando poi saremo stanchi, troveremo il modo.

<<We, can>> nace de un gesto mínimo: invitar al otro a sentarse y confiarle, por un momento, el propio rostro. La artista realiza un molde de los ojos cerrados; el proceso requiere una proximidad basada en la confianza entre ambos cuerpos.

Las huellas obtenidas se acumulan en el espacio como testimonios físicos del encuentro, conformando una constelación de miradas impresas en la materia.

WE, CAN nasce da un gesto minimo: invitare l’altro a sedersi e affidare a qualcuno, per un momento, il proprio volto. L’artista realizza un calco degli occhi chiusi: il processo richiede una prossimità basata sulla fiducia tra i due corpi. Le impronte ottenute si accumulano nell’ambiente come testimonianze fisiche dell’incontro, andando a costituire una costellazione di sguardi impressi nella materia.

WE, CAN originates in a tiny gesture: inviting the other to sit and, for a moment, entrust their face. The artist creates a mould of their closed eyes: the process requires a proximity based on trust between two bodies.

The obtained casts pile up in the room as a physical testimony of the meeting, creating a constellation of gazes impressed in matter.

Caribay,
“…las águilas blancas se levantaron perpendicularmente sobre aquella altura hasta perderse en el espacio. No se dibujaron más sus sombras sobre la tierra.

Entonces Caribay corrió de un risco a otro por las escarpadas sierras, regando el suelo con sus lágrimas” 

Esta obra (que tiene un nombre largo, como casi todos en Venezuela) es una videoinstalación que tendré el honor de presentar por primera vez en el @mudec_official (Museo delle Culture) de Milán los días 12 y 13 de junio.

Estas son sus primeras voces. 
Nació el día en que me di cuenta de lo poco que sé de mi propia patria. El día en que descubrí que nunca conoceré nuestros glaciares, porque Venezuela se convirtió en el primer país del mundo en perderlos completamente (2024).

Por eso comencé a recoger recuerdos. A buscar voces que pudieran contarme cómo se ama un territorio, cómo se habita, cómo se recuerda un paisaje que desaparece, que colmara mi vacío. Encontré, en algún lugar de mi memoria, un relato que mi padre me contó sobre unas águilas cuando viajábamos a Mérida, las águilas de Caribay.

Caribay será una obra en la que el agua se transforma en superficie de proyección: la naturaleza y la tecnología se funden y se confunden, creando un umbral desde el cual escuchar las múltiples voces de esta magnífica india merideña.

Cuando leemos el relato de Tulio, muchos pensamos en aquella india vanidosa cuyo deseo de adornarse con plumas hizo temblar la tierra y el cielo.

Sin embargo, Caribay es también la tierra misma que grita y reclama blancos adornos en las cimas, en sus encrespadas crestas.

Caribay es la tierra de mis Andes, y con esta obra recojo las lágrimas que lloran un paisaje perdido.

Caribay hablará en el futuro muchos idiomas, porque en cada cima, en cada glaciar del mundo, en cada nevada, permanece vivo su deseo de belleza.

Hoy agradezco a estas voces y a estos relatos, que aquí traduzco al italiano para que resuenen en quienes entren a verla.

Last week I had the honor of taking part in @spartiacque.call, the festival was truly outstanding. These people brought together more than 60 artists and activated six spaces across Bergamo to bring art closer to people. They work with so much care and passion, and there’s an incredible energy around everything they do.
.
I was very happy to participate with Frammezzo as part of this year’s open call, “Deriva: guardarsi da lontano.” Honestly, Frammezzo feels like it was made for this festival 😂.. @nichelodion_ made this great video of the show with Frammezzo’s audio!
.

My work is on view until tomorrow at Casa degli Artisti, where I had the opportunity to present “We, Can” as part of the group exhibition The Witness.
.
We, Can is a performative installation that invites the public to leave a trace of their “blind gaze” through a plaster cast.
.
So, Everything is unpredictable…the emotions of both the audience and the performer remain latent throughout the experience.
.
Participation is entirely up to the public, and every interaction becomes a lesson, offering me something new to understand.
.
This time, I met three incredible people. Each stayed for around 40 minutes!, sharing a moment of deep intimacy. At one point, @_.ferale._ said: “It’s curious because you are touching without touching, and now with my eyes closed, I feel I can perceive things in the room that I wasn’t perceiving before.”
.
I was initially very worried about presenting the work in a smaller space. Having so many people so close was not part of the original concept, but I’m very happy I decided to move forward and simply present it…giving the work the chance to reveal what it could evoke.
.
So thanks to all who came in and who stayed out !!
.

It felt wonderful to show my work through this initiative.

My practice moves around social fragilities, vulnerability and forms of collective listening, so being part of a space that values care and community felt deeply meaningful.
.
From behind the table I watched people taking time with the work — staying longer, asking questions, discovering slowly.
In those moments I felt the real purpose of my practice.
.
Costellazione Nepantla (artist book) and Essere tra l’Essere (video) were presented during the festival.
.
Both works were created together with people who shared moments of fragility, different sensitivities, or neurodivergent perspectives — opening a threshold for new forms of relationality and listening.
.
The book contains the voices of @matte.ocogliati @luk2001luzzati @cardillomarcodalli , Cesare Cogliati, @lorenzini.zepp14 , a picture of little Lucas @nairelyfuentes , @papaibaa , #UgoCarrega

So honored to have been invited to #hermovesfestival , a wonderful initiative organized by @soaparis at #barcelona ,it is a nonprofit organization that brings together skateboarding, art and wellbeing.
.
They use skateboarding as a conscious practice to activate communities, public space and creative expression.
.
Since 2022 they have been working with a team mainly composed of #women , #nonbinary and #neurodivergent individuals, creating spaces of empowerment through art and collective practice.
.
It was beautiful to witness how many different energies, bodies and stories came together during the exhibition.
.
Thank you for including my practice in this generous initiative.

Tutti quei bordi induriti, fossilizzati nel proprio argomento,
non hanno fatto altro che violentare realtà, verità, sogni:
corazze d’acciaio chiuse su viscere sterili.

Se guardiamo da un punto distante.
il mezzo è così irrisolto come una distanza che non diventa separazione,
Il figlio adolescente nel pieno di una disputa.

Quello spazio intermedio — soglia —
è ciò che abbiamo via via perduto:
possibilità, speranza,
conciliazione, trasformazione.

Bianco e nero.
Buono o cattivo.
Tutto piatto, senza sfumature.
Quando trionfa la purezza di un colore,
fallisce l’immaginazione politica del relazionale.

Eppure continuiamo a scegliere bombe.
Minacce.
Visioni.

Quando potremo abitare il conflitto
e creare una storia diversa?

I’ve been asking lately for new opportunities to sow and to sow myself in art.
And this year, the new rhythms may not have brought the best results.

But nothing has been missing.
@sylviaschedelbauer brought with her fertile soul hope. Truth. I have felt something that transcends solidarity and friendship.
.
I met her mother, silent, smiling, rebellious even in her 90s. An old little dog walks only when his companions are near.

I met @loneberry -jackie-, profound and casual at the same time. Poet and author of so many books. I found my work in her poems.

Together they exhibited their work at @almanac_eu , where Guido bets on emerging art, creating spaces for learning and exchange. Spaces so scarce today in the midst of the market that, unfortunately, reigns in contemporary art.

I continue to receive the most sincere experiences from art.
These are the echoes of the @ekraniiartit , and this is the art I dream of multiplying.

This mother, artist, questa #donnaspezzata , prepares herself and fights. With the fortune of always encountering souls that are treasures: friends, teachers, a great husband (the saint) who silently waits outside the room so she can study. Two daughters: a tornado and a spring, who renew her in different ways.

Como no creer en algo más allá de la piel?
