earlier this year, i was invited to participate in an artist residency with @titlesxyz and this month, we presented our work @grayareaorg ☆ each of the five artists trained a custom ai art model based on their creative practice

wow the giant mirror may actually be one of my favorite things in san francisco

about the giant mirror as explained on the @exploratorium website:
- this spherical mirror is on loan from the @smithsonian institute
- designed to be part of a flight simulator, a small flaw made it unusable for its intended purpose (you won’t be able to find it)
- this mirror’s concave spherical shape focuses incoming light to a focal point about 1.5m (5ft) from its surface
- walk slowly toward the mirror from beyond the focal point and you’ll see your own head seem to explode just as you pass through it (as seen in this video!)
- the optical tricks it plays are not fundamentally different from those you can see in other concave spherical reflectors, such as a magnifying makeup mirror or even just the hollow side of a metal spoon. the main difference is its spectacular size and a near-perfect smoothness that makes for exceptional clarity (this part blows my mind, you have to see it in person)
