Yesterday reminded me why movement matters.

It has been raining for weeks. It’s raining today. Yesterday, it looked like the rain was going to take over everything. Events were being rained out, and yet—lo and behold, Puerto Viejo came alive.

Because maybe the people needed something.

We needed some laughter.
We needed some dancing.
We needed some movement.
We needed some JOY.

And for a moment, the energy shifted.

That’s what I love about movement. Movement isn’t just about what we do with our bodies. Movement can shift the atmosphere. It can move something inside of us. It can remind us that even when circumstances around us haven’t changed, something within us can.

And today? It’s raining again. 🌧️

But guess what?

WE’RE STILL MOVING. 🛼💜

This afternoon @ Vol’Air Dance Studio Love in Motion is hosting our skating sessions, and we’re trying something new—two hours focused on our children and families, followed later by a session for our adult and advanced skaters.

Different ages. Different energy. A whole different vibe. But the same intention:

Community. Healing. Joy. Movement.

And we have some exciting things coming. 👀

Because movement is bigger than skating. It’s about continuing to move in our minds, our spirits, our communities and our humanity.

Growth is an inside job.

The evolving of humanity begins with the evolving of ourselves—with that man or woman in the mirror.

So rain or shine, we keep moving.

Move your body.
Move your mind.
Move your spirit.
Move toward one another.
Move toward joy.

Hey, about this weekend… 💜

This weekend I had the privilege and the honor to work with a group of young people, Big Dreamers, who came out with courage and boldness.

One who had never been on this kind of stage before. One who was only 10 years old. One who’s been coming for four years and shared what it meant to feel heard and seen. And one who stepped forward and choreographed the dance.

And I have to give a special shout-out to Maikira. This was her first year, and she appeared to be shy on the first day. I challenged them to create what they wanted us to see, and Maikiria stepped up and choreographed the dance. I am so grateful for her leadership, her courage, and her willingness to step forward and express her unique gift.

And I can’t help but think about the young man who played the guitar and sang. I got so many beautiful hugs from him throughout our time together. But what really stayed with me was what he said at the end:

“I’ll see you next year. I’ll be here.”

That touched me.

Because that, to me, shows the power of what this platform has to offer young people. When a young person leaves already looking forward to coming back next year, that says something.

It’s not about the numbers. It’s about the quality and the love.

It’s about creating these platforms and spaces where our youth can be heard and seen and be able to express themselves — spaces where they feel that they belong and where their unique gifts have room to come forward.

I want to thank Dana Rice Music Ministries, the whole Big Dreams crew, Dr. Ouida, and the entire team that came. Thank you for inviting me and for allowing me to be a support to the youth.

I didn’t have to teach them.

We did a movement workshop around movement as self-expression. Dance is dance, but to actually be able to articulate and express through movement what you feel is a special gift. And I am grateful to have been able to share that with them and to support them as they continue to express their own unique gifts.

I am grateful for every young person who showed up, stepped out, took a chance, and allowed themselves to be heard and seen. by @sharonloveinmotion

Count Your Blessings

This little jar of hearts reminds me that some blessings are simply too many to count.

Today, my heart is full. My cup is overflowing with gratitude—for every person who has encouraged, supported, shared, volunteered, prayed, believed, and shown up. Thank you for embracing the vision of Love in Motion and the Worldwide Roll to Erase Hate. We’ll be rolling with the world to Erase Hate, Sunday July 26th!

But beyond any event, I’m most grateful for those who still believe in the power of community… of gathering together… of choosing love, joy, kindness, and movement.

Movement is medicine. Connection is medicine. Love is medicine.

In times like these, may we continue to fill one another’s jars with hope, one heart at a time.

A Dream in Motion… and the First Phase Has Arrived! 🎉

Today, I am filled with gratitude and excitement to share a milestone that many of you helped make possible.

The first phase of Love in Motion Caribbean is here!

We have officially received our first fleet of 65 pairs of roller skates for youth and adults!

To everyone who donated, shared our GoFundMe, encouraged us, believed in this vision, or simply cheered us on—thank you. You are part of this moment. Every contribution, no matter the size, helped move this dream closer to reality.

These skates are more than equipment. They represent opportunities for children, families, and our community to experience movement, connection, confidence, healing, and joy.

While this is a huge milestone, our journey is just beginning.

We are still raising support for:
🛼 Safety equipment (helmets, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads)
📦 Safe storage and organization for our growing skate fleet
🔧 Skate maintenance and repairs
🚐 Transportation and mobile pop-up operations
🏟️ Rental of community spaces for our programs
And ultimately, our long-term dream: a permanent Love in Motion Center for Movement and Community, serving Puerto Viejo, the surrounding communities, and the entire Caribbean region of Costa Rica.

This vision has never been just about roller skating. It’s about creating a place where people of all ages can gather, move, grow, build friendships, discover confidence, and experience the power of community.

🎉🛼 Guess what, Skate Family?!

We made it!!

Puerto Viejo is officially featured on the Worldwide Rollout Day Facebook page! 🌍💜

That means our community is now part of a global movement bringing people together to Roll to Erase Hate.

This is a first for Puerto Viejo and the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, and we’d love for you to be part of it!

Same storm. Different perspective. Different experience.

Yesterday, I stepped outside and danced in the rain. I laughed, walked through the puddles, and felt like a kid again. For me, the storm was an invitation to play, to slow down, and to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Then I learned that just a short distance away, in parts of Limón, Cahuita, and other nearby communities, families were facing flooding, damaged homes, and real hardship.

Same storm. Entirely different reality.

It reminded me that our perspective is shaped not only by how we choose to see life, but also by the experiences we’re living through. What feels like joy to one person may be survival for another. That’s why compassion matters. We never truly know what someone else is carrying.

Today, I’m grateful for my experience, while also holding space for those whose experience has been much more difficult.

My prayers are with every family affected by these storms. May you find safety, strength, support, and hope as your communities recover. 💜🙏🏾💜 by @sharonloveinmotion

There is something sacred about remembering how to play.

Not for the camera.
Not for approval.
Not because you’re trying to look a certain way.

Just because you’re alive.

The older I get, the more I realize that joy isn’t something we outgrow—it’s something we often forget. Presence invites us back.

When you’re fully present, you stop worrying about your age, what people think, or what’s next. You laugh. You move. You splash in the water. You become curious again.

Liberation isn’t found in having everything figured out.
It’s found in giving yourself permission to fully live this moment.

Be here.
Laugh deeply.
Play freely.
Your inner child is still waiting for you.
