I had the absolute HONOR of being the Keynote Speaker to the 2025 Graduating class of Lincoln High School’s (My Alma Mater) Academy of Finance. It was an extremely full circle moment.I didn’t realize it then but I realize now just how much @lincolnaof has shaped me into the individual and businesswoman I am. That program, which has been operating for decades at this point, has created some real superstars in the world and I asked a few of them to share some words of encouragement to the graduating class! Thank you Maria, Jamilah, Jenny and Maria lol for helping me out. To the graduating class, we were you just a short time ago and trust me when I tell you, you are just beginning! Whatever your next steps may be, embrace them wholeheartedly and don’t be afraid to reach out to past teachers, staff and alumni to assist you on your journey. Yesterday we held orientation for our first cohort of the Level Up Workforce Academy and it went great! We had 18 youth show up, shy, but ready to level up in a major way! Entering the workforce is one of those times in your life where you don’t realize how impactful it will be on your future. The trajectory of your life can forever change with the right job/career. Last Wednesday, we took Project Inspire Yonkers to Memorial Field in Mount Vernon for a day of soccer and community building! @westchestersc Our team was proud to join the Westchester Soccer Club community to share information about our mentorship and workforce development programs with families, youth, and community members from across the county. S/o to the new Rochelle chamber for hosting such a great event. What made the day even more special? Our mentees were there with us—enjoying the game and spreading the word representing the best part of our organization - themselves. Every conversation, every connection, and every opportunity to show up in the community helps us build something bigger than a program—it’s a movement.If you could teach ONE life skill to every young person in Westchester, what would it be? Moments as special as these take me forever to post about because as time goes on, I desire to be more present — especially during these milestones. This year was one of our most challenging yet. Being a single parent (not to be confused with a single mother) is not for the faint of heart. When your household starts and stops with you, it can be become overwhelming very quickly. Couple that with all the firsts that comes with parenting, coparenting and life’s typical ups and downs and whew chile lol. If you are any parent, but especially a single parent, making sure your babies succeed in this world, YOU ARE THAT GIRLLLLLL/GUY Okay! Even if you’re lucky like me to have a village that dont play about you or your baby, shit still gets real! Quickly! So shoutout to us. Now more importantly , shout out to my babyyyyy!!!!!Parker’s previous school had us doubting whether she would be going to first grade. From learning her brain functions a little different than some other kids, to non stop meetings, tantrums, disgnoses, confusion and adjusting to all your unique learning styles — the world was stressing baby out! lolBut without a doubt, we kept at it and it paid off. Parker, I will never ever give up on you, I will advocate for you always and together we will solve any and every challenge that comes our way. And we did. From changing schools, adjusting to new learning formats, me changing positions at work to better support you, your bravery in making new friends in a brand new city, my doubting whether I was making the right decisions for your education — it all brought us here. Every sacrifice was worth it.To most this was just a kindergarten graduation but for us — this was HUGE and a testament that you are exactly the brave, smart, unique, most special little girl that you think you are. As your mom it was confirmation that I can and will question everything, keep you’re best interest at the forefront and believe that God got us in between. We did that Parks! Something tells me, our challenges aren’t over just yet lol. But doubting whether we will overcome them, is. I love you little girl. Congratulations to my babyyyyy. Idk…amongst other reasons…I’m over it. There’s no limits, no boundaries, so much false information. I almost followed an AI Jamaican grandma today talking about health benefits until I saw her teeth change mid sentence and she was promoting the same product almost every video. We are getting got. And dragged. And God has so much more to offer.Unless you’re benefiting financially from having a presence on here, I’m just not seeing it for me. by @shatikaparker
