Part II. Here’s to the falling leaves, the fading light, and the quiet melancholy of autumn.

The intro track deserves a post of its own.

For me, black metal has always been deeply tied to atmosphere. The changing light, cold air, rain, fog, dying leaves, and that unmistakable feeling of autumn all call for a certain kind of sound.

Six tracks for the season. 🍂

What are you spinning this autumn?

Part II soon.

As much as I hate the term “blackgaze”, there are a lot of bands that are a genuinely terrific blend of black metal, shoegaze, sometimes post-rock and dreampop.

Long chord progressions, endless repetition, and a trance-like atmosphere. The elite ambient/atmospheric black metal club.

I would never find the burning domes and sands
Where reigns the sun, nor dare the snows
Nor seek in mountains dark, the landscapes of the men

May we learn to have compassion and show empathy in these times even if it means limiting the indulgence in celebrations. May it happen before it’s too late.
To the departed, not amongst us this Eid, may you all shine bright in the night sky each night, eternally. by @shatungra
