I didn’t really expect to have to make another post like this so soon, and I really hope I don’t have to make another one for a very long time.
I was never really into @newfoundglory before I toured with them because I thought @elcapitan2phones sounded a bit too squeaky for my hardcore soaked palette, but I did like the Coming Home album because it was more melodic even though it’s a bit softer than the other stuff. Anyway, I had toured with @acrossfiveaprils_official a lot, but always in a van. My pals in Ambush! had recorded an album with Tom Denny of @adtr and I head they were about to do a tour with NFG, @fouryearstrong & @crimeinstereoisdead and I desperately wanted to be on that tour. I begged Grant to ask Tom if they would bring me out, and to my surprise, they agreed. They picked me up in Pensacola after a show at the red door, and we were off to California to meet up with the tour package.
I remember the first day of tour vividly. I was very nervous to meet everyone. They’d had huge songs on the radio, and had done arena tours sponsored by Honda and shit. I had no idea what to expect, but I was welcomed right into the fold. The NFG guys were overwhelmingly friendly to everyone that day, and really every day. Sometimes when a band has achieved a certain level of fame, they become resentful of their diminishing fan base, but NFG wasn’t like that at all. The entire band was a group of humble, and honest men who were happy to play the same show for a small club that they played for a major festival. They were funny, and kind. They shared their stories, their rider groceries, their dressing rooms, their weed, and after the weed they shared their Reese’s Puffs cereal. It was actually the first time I ever tried it, and to this day it’s my favorite cereal. Every member had their quirks, but at the center of their dynamic was Chad. He was fun to talk to because it felt like you were talking to one of the founding fathers of hardcore/metalcore/and pop-punk. He had stories for days, and enjoyed telling them. Gonna get this tattooed on me tomorrow. You’re all welcome to use this image to do the same if you’d like. I’ve included the photos from my story just to have them in one place, and I also tracked down the photo I took when I tattooed a switchblade on him outside of the White Rabbit in Jacksonville in 2010. Anyway. This is all very sad. Hug your friends. Andy Williams Forever. RIP Big guy. by @shauncey

“I make jokes about it, but it’s the truth that I kind of patterned my look after the town tramp. I didn’t know what she was, just this woman who was blond and piled her hair up, wore high heels and tight skirts, and, boy, she was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen. Momma used to say, “Aw, she’s just trash,” and I thought, That’s what I want to be when I grow up. Trash.” -Dolly Parton

Come be trash today at Dragoncat Tattoo 9am to 5pm and then some. $95 each.
