Last week, we joined our partners at @Harvard to celebrate the opening of 100 South Campus Drive—an all-new, 340,000-square-foot residential community bringing 276 new homes and shared amenities to Harvard affiliates in Allston.

Designed by @marvel_is_design, the project will meet ambitious Passive House and Living Building Challenge goals, combining an exceptionally high-performing building envelope with all-electric systems, energy recovery ventilation, water-efficiency strategies, healthier material selections, and extensive measures supporting occupant comfort, resilience, and well-being.

100 South Campus Drive is also part of the broader evolution of Harvard’s Allston campus. Just next door, Shawmut is completing the new home of the American Repertory Theater—together helping establish a new hub for residential life, arts, and community within the neighborhood.

Today, we joined our partners at Brimmer and May to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Guild Recreation & Wellness Center—an all-new, 26,000-square-foot facility designed to expand opportunities for athletics, wellness, learning, and community across campus.

Designed by Sasaki, the center brings together spaces for movement, learning, health, and connection. A double-height lobby creates a light-filled place for students to gather, study, and socialize, while flexible classrooms, wellness spaces, and a south-facing courtyard extend the building’s role well beyond athletics.

The facility also more than doubles Brimmer and May’s recreation space, with a college-regulation competition court, two practice courts, a junior gymnasium, 300-seat bleachers, fitness and training spaces, and enhanced athletic support areas.

Daily life at the Ford Student Center at @amherstcollege.

The Ford Student Center officially opened last week with a campus-wide open-house celebration at Amherst College. Students, faculty, staff, trustees, project partners, donors, and members of the wider Amherst community gathered to inaugurate the new student center and dining commons.

Per Christoph Röttinger, Partner in Charge: “We kept the building’s existing structure and material character, combining adaptive reuse with a new mass-timber addition. The project links the site’s history to Amherst College’s future — creating communal spaces for student life and wellbeing and pursuing climate action as a shared priority. Achieving this level of ambition is owed to an exceptionally committed client and project team.”

The project was realised in close collaboration with @sasakidesign as executive architect.

The Ford Student Center at @amherstcollege transforms and extends the former Merrill Science Center into a new center for campus life. Rather than replacing the existing building, the design retains and repurposes its concrete structure at the lower two levels. Two new floors in mass timber, made from black spruce, complete the building above. This approach reduces material waste and retains the embodied carbon of the existing structure, while establishing a new architectural expression that responds to the scale and landscape of the campus.

Situated between the historic upper quad and the lower greenway, the building connects different parts of the campus through a vertical and horizontal network of shared spaces. Students enter at the greenway on the ground floor and from the quad on the third floor. An internal passage links these entrances and connects the building’s dining, social, cultural, and recreational spaces.

The new program includes Betty’s Kitchen, the main dining space, alongside the Alumni Pub, Stanley’s Café, student organization rooms, cultural resource centers, flexible event spaces, a radio station, music practice rooms, a theater, movement and interfaith spaces, lounges, and terraces. Large windows and outdoor spaces frame views towards the surrounding landscape and the Holyoke Range.

The project was realised in close collaboration with @sasakidesign as executive architect.

The ribbon is officially cut at Centro Cultural Inmigrante, @thepeoplestheatrenyc’s first permanent home and the first flexible theater space north of Harlem.

The new 19,000-square-foot performing arts center in Inwood is designed to amplify the voices of New York City’s immigrant communities and bring professional performance, arts education, artist development, community programming, and gathering spaces together under one roof.

We’re proud to have been a part of bringing El Centro to life—built by and for the community, with 59% of suppliers, vendors, and trade partners minority-, women-, local-, or immigrant-owned businesses.

The Metropolitan Storage Warehouse, a fortress-like, five-story building with 2-foot-thick brick walls and 195,000 square feet of interior space, has been transformed into a new home for MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning, with larger studios, work areas, an auditorium, and galleries.

Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R, @diller_scofidio_renfro), the transformation works with the MET Warehouse’s original structure while introducing new ways to bring light, movement, and collaboration into the building. Four sections of the north façade were replaced with floor-to-ceiling glass, bringing natural light into the studios, while each floor features its own version of an Infinite Corridor.

Large design studios now occupy the center of the building, surrounded by offices, seminar rooms, teaching spaces, and research areas. Large stairs connect the floors, creating opportunities for exchange and interaction. The building itself has also become a teaching tool, with structural features revealed during construction left visible as part of what project leaders describe as a “living laboratory.”

The project reflects a broader approach to adaptive reuse: adapting a historic structure for a new generation of design education, research, and collaboration.
