My first skate session back after knee surgery.

It wasn’t initially a skateboarding injury — I just thought it was normal wear as it had bothered me on and off for years — but I had torn my meniscus, the cartilage in the knee. When I suddenly got worse pain back in May, I went back to the orthopedist and we finally figured it out.

I’m grateful that the surgery in June went so well and that it allows for such a quick recovery. The whole team at @elkinsparkpt have been amazing, and with their help, just a few weeks later I’m back on the board.

So psyched to keep pushing.

Having a ball out here. Not worried if progress is slow and steady..We’re gonna keep at it!

Trying to recognize my own progress. It’s too easy to get wrapped up in the things that aren’t there yet.

Trying to pick the right tricks to fight for when they’re within reach.

Thank you so much to my new homie John at @theyard_ambler — I wouldn’t have gotten this one without his help and encouragement!!

Keeping in mind that “progress is a process.”

Sometimes it feels like slow going, but I know we’re gonna get there.

Learning how to skate the hip.

It doesn’t seem like the most intimidating obstacle at the skatepark, but it’s one that really confused me, so I all but avoided it:

Determined to finally crack the code 😉

A big thank you to Mike, Rich, and everybody at @theyard_ambler !!

I was telling the guys that our skateboarding club at my high school has so many new members this year — and so many who have never skated before — that I can’t wear out decks fast enough to get everyone on a wheel-less deck to learn safely on their first day.

They blessed us with a bunch of decks that are going to help get a whole new crop of kids shredding!

I’m so grateful not only for the donation, but for everything these amazing people continue to do for skateboarding!

Thanks again, guys!

Working towards a FS 180.

I don’t have much on flatground yet, so this’ll be a big step in the right direction!

Trying all the tricks vs. trying one trick

Thinking about how I approach a skate session.
