Look 2.

The statement look was originally sketched out to have a graphic tee with Gullaza on it , a saying than ran my teens. However i noticed that malta had prince of persia vibe going on and i was instantly inspired. outside of all of the tourist areas it was dust everywhere & i found that quite beautiful.

Something about settling the dust inspired me as i walked the streets of Birkirkara - the only black merchant in the zurrieq market was selling these yeezy type boots and i had to support him especially as the shoes fit the mood board.

I styled the whole outfit around the footwear and worked my way up finding this burberry cap in the chairty from my last post.

This outfit is 100% outside of my comfort zone as i fear i look too sexy nevertheless as the idea was for the statement look to represent me bwoy affi stepout clean & confident.

Overall i spent €47 📌

Look 1.

My orginial sketch called for a distressed seem & long pants with open toes something chill & daring.

While browsing zurrieq market I realised how hot malta is & had to adapt the idea while sticking to the blueprint. The hoodie was my first purchase & then the denim pimpsoles.

Instantly the eurka moment came & i said i want to go for a denim affiar dancehall look, patches was go to but to my surprise there was no patches in the market. Substituting the patches with the colourful pins - this added that extra layer of nostalgia as “ colour colour “ is also something that has been on the dancehall mood board for decades & i love me a safety pin.

The dupe cavalli glasses was a steal at €5, i picked up two & the seller didnt see & I corrected him & gave him the change he then tells me “ wow your a good man “

Now the market was selling fresh blanks and i said to my self no vintage shopping as i didnt want to wear used clothes but still ended up in a chairty shop wear i found these jeans & hat.

I was in the shop trying on all the stuff i bought in the market & me and the voulnetter called dorothoy started talking about fashion. I showed her my sketch & She ended up showing me these shorts as they had a cheetah print at the bottom. Dorothy folded the shorts and darted them for me just so i could complete the look with two patterns.

I purchased two 2 hats and the shorts and it should have been €16, she charged me €10 by mistake but i learnt my lesson & kept my mouth shut this time as me too im on a budget, the horror in her eyes & she clocked was too funny but boy i felt like God made that happen twice in one day or the locals dont know math i dunno not my problem.

Overall i spent €39📌

The white paint on the shorts pop & works with the shoe’s & army print.

I hand washed the shorts twice as i was testing the longevity of the painting method I used.

I had maybe 8 hours to shop 3 looks & get them ready. So i opted for bape dog deaign rather than going for my usual go to which is my tag “ ABBASTANZA”.

Lmaoo yoo having conviction about what you got going on is amazing. My cousin hit me up and said we have to do freedom street & i said my boy i do not have the funds!! Nevertheless i went with the payment plan and was able to get the ticket, honestly i surprised myself every month it went through.

The less money you have the more creative you nedd to be its just simple maths, i picked hand luggae only & started concetpualising what i wanted to wear for each day of the clash.

Army for kartel, all black for mavado & a statement piece to represent myself.

I did my research online & found a local market in zurrieq, malta every Thursday 7am - 11am that you can purchase most pieces for €20 euros & footwear for around €20, with a budget of €150 euros in mind i felt confident i could create 3 outfits from top to bottom. Nothing thrifted just cheap and nonbeanded or fake.

Booked the @224boutiquehostel as it was close to zara just incase i needed some filling pieces & said yes im good to go.

Anyway if you havent caught on I am literally using the skills that i have learnt along the way thanks you guys, styling, fashion design, location scouting, market research. Ya boy was prepared !

My cousin couldn’t come in the end but i thank him dearly for the push, growing up vybz kartel was a true inspiration for me hate it or love it. I had no stable father figure and i found solace in his music.

Wear weh you have, nuh feardem, realbadman, pure love mi gal, dancehall hero & most importantly last man standing !

Anyway since its fashion week in london im going to talk you through my looks as these sketches was just loose concepts.

I havent seen richard brown films on YouTube you are missing out. He is 100% doing the lords work, great production & impactful stories.

My God mum has dementia & i sat there with her & watched a couple shows with her and she smiled, laughed and related so much as she saw her culture in 4k rather than watching mindless tv that doesn’t resonate with her since she lives in the uk.

Im not a fan of camo print so the footwear needs to be the fashion statment & a pop of red yellow by @shaycasanova

A decade later & genuine still exists!

I’ve lived my absolute dreams, ticked off my bucket list, roamed the world and pushed through some real nightmares, all before 30. Thank God.

Ask around. A lot of Black boys growing up never thought they’d make it to 30. Another conversation for another time.

This next chapter has no title. more whimsy, more trust, more following my gut.
