Plot twist: moving to Traverse City doesn’t mean leaving Grand Rapids… phew 🏙️

Nakano Central Park Flea Market (Mottainai Flea Market)

* Why Visit: Based on the Japanese philosophy of mottainai (“waste not, want not”), this eco-conscious outdoor market is held right in the park and is packed with locals selling pre-loved vintage fashion, rare pins, and secondhand treasures at incredible prices. 📍 Address: Nakano Central Park, 4-10-2 Nakano, Nakano City, Tokyo 164-0001 (5 min walk from Nakano Station North Exit) ⏰ Hours: Weekends (Selected Dates) | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

🏛️ Ohi Racecourse Flea Market (Tokyo City Flea Market)
* Why Visit: Known as the largest outdoor flea market in Tokyo (and one of the biggest in Japan!), hosting up to 300 to 600 vendors every weekend.
* Fun Fact: Located in the parking garage of the Oi Keiba-jo racecourse, vendors sell directly out of the trunks of their cars! It’s famous for vintage clothing, cameras, retro toys, and traditional ceramics.
* 📍 Address: 2 Chome-1-2 Katsushima, Shinagawa City, Tokyo 140-0012
* ⏰ Hours: Select Saturdays & Sundays | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Best to go early before items pick over!)
🌿 Oedo Antique Market (Yoyogi or International Forum)
* Why Visit: Japan’s largest outdoor antique market. It feels like an open-air museum filled with Edo-period items, vintage kimonos, and rare jewelry.
* 📍 Address: Tokyo International Forum, 3 Chome-5-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 100-0005
* ⏰ Hours: 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
