Archiving Our History! 🎞️📚
As part of @shayofthearts Time Capsule workshop with @nyplpicturecollection, we made our way through @nypl to dig through their vast collections for research before returning to home base for some hands-on photo archiving!

All our shooters know the importance of preserving moments in film. So to have you all join us in continuing the tradition of archiving with your own personal momentos, definitely one for the books! 🙌

I curated a space where my dear friends and remarkable creatives of the Caribbean diaspora in NYC gathered not simply to tell stories, but to remember them together. I’m endlessly grateful to everyone who trusted this vision and helped bring it to life.

we passed around photographs, held archives in our hands, ate Jamaican patties, sipped wine and water, shared a few laughs, and honored the people and histories that brought us here.

What does it mean to preserve a memory? 📚🖼️

Join us at Photodom for an Archiving Workshop with Shay Waugh, a Jamaican-American archivist and photographer based in NYC whose work explores intimacy, cultural memory, and the quiet gestures that shape our lives.

This hands-on workshop is centered around preserving what matters most by empowering individuals and communities to care for their photographic histories through memory work, archival techniques, and thoughtful preservation practices.
